TL;DR
- YouTube’s suggestion algorithm seems to be experiencing technical difficulties, leaving many users frustrated with the lack of relevant recommendations.
- Users are repeatedly presented with extremely dated films they’ve previously viewed and obscure musical selections from their YouTube recommendations.
- Reports of difficulties emerged around midday EST on November 25, flooding online forums like Reddit as frustrated customers voiced their concerns.
The algorithm behind YouTube’s recommendations has some kinks to work out. A recent algorithm update seems to have caused widespread issues for many YouTube users, resulting in irrelevant and outdated content being suggested, including previously viewed videos or repetitive music playlists.
Several YouTube users are experiencing difficulties, and it seems that the problem arose just a few hours ago.
Two hours ago, everything worked seamlessly. Since then, the algorithm has been stuck on recommending obscure movies with fewer than 1,000 views on topics that hold no interest for me.
I’ve experienced a similar issue. I’m fed up with my feed being cluttered with an overwhelming array of music playlists, rendering it nearly useless. “One minor detail went awry,” another individual noted.
I’m actually surprised nobody’s talked about this yet? My algorithm is tousled BAD. The live stream has been down since around noon EST, another viewer noted.
Several commenters concurred, pinpointing the onset of the issue to around midday Eastern Standard Time (EST) on November 25. Since midday, my solutions have become 99% reruns of issues I’ve previously watched, some dating back several years, and the remaining 1% comprises new problems assigned to me this month that I’m not enthusiastic about, alongside podcast playlists from channels I subscribe to, although I’ve never once used any YouTube podcasts.
We will closely monitor the situation’s development and can reach out to YouTube for verification purposes. In the interim, there is a possibility that the platform may address the issue once it becomes aware of it.
