YouTube apologizes for mistakenly suspending channels and revoking subscription privileges due to incorrect allegations of spamming.

Creators also reported instances where their files had gone missing, with some expressing frustration that they had attempted to modify their settings or seek assistance but were met with silence. YouTube’s updates to its Assist website have occurred, but provide little additional insight.

While concerns about creators’ livelihoods following channel removals dominate the discussion, some YouTube Premium subscribers have also reported losing access, either temporarily or for years. Because of this issue, users have been unable to access their Premium subscription and may not.

When multiple companies converge under a single umbrella, several complications can arise: publishing on YouTube, subscribing to Premium, and streaming through YouTube Music and YouTube TV may be affected in unforeseen ways. Folks are unwittingly abandoning not only dormant channel memberships they may never have activated, but also paid subscription services in the face of a false spam takedown.

YouTube announced on its Assist website that it is working to restore access to subscriptions as well as affected channels, stating: “We’re very sorry for this mistake on our part and will follow up here when it’s complete.”
