One final consideration… Farewell, iMore.

Retrieve your trusty old iPod and fire up the ‘Tearjerkers’ playlist, as I bring grave tidings with a heavy heart. After more than 15 years of steadfastly safeguarding Apple’s legacy, it is with profound sorrow that I regretfully announce our decision to cease producing new content on iMore.

Let’s kick off by extending our heartfelt gratitude for your ongoing support throughout the evolution of our strategy. Whether you’re an early adopter who hopped on board with the dawn of ‘PhoneDifferent’ days or recently joined the fray to uncover the mystery of Apple Vision Pro, it’s been an honor to deliver daily doses of Apple expertise to your doorstep.

As Apple’s pioneering iPhone debuted in 2008, a revolutionary device that transformed not only the company but also the world at large, it is fitting that we mark our publication here in 2024 on the cusp of the launch of a groundbreaking new technology from Apple – Apple Intelligence. Although Apple wasn’t the pioneer in developing smartphones or exploring artificial intelligence, its potential to revolutionize the way humans interact with technology is undeniable, much like the transformative impact of the iPhone.

The world of expertise remains steadfastly on the cusp of innovation, as evidenced by the fact that the term “artificial intelligence” was once the exclusive domain of science fiction, even in the early days of the iPhone’s dominance. The publishing landscape continues to transform, and so too do the diverse forms of specialized journalism seeking to shed light on the ever-changing industry. As iMore exits the scene at a crucial juncture in online publishing’s evolution, the stakes are higher than ever: capturing readers’ fleeting attention amidst an increasingly crowded landscape, while also navigating the complexities of AI-driven search and discovery algorithms that further amplify the competition.

After many years of serving a devoted readership with enthusiasm, I am now pleased to pass the torch to fresh voices, innovative digital platforms, and evolving mediums.

I’d like to express my heartfelt gratitude to every member of the iMore community, past and present, for their unwavering support and passion that has fueled our collective efforts over the years. A heartfelt thank you is extended to iMore’s esteemed predecessors, Lory Gil, Serenity Caldwell, and Joe Keller, with special appreciation for the indomitable Rene Ritchie, whose pioneering efforts made this extraordinary milestone possible. I hope that we have brought you to a place of pride and accomplishment.

I’d like to extend special recognition to the exceptional iMore team members I’ve had the privilege of working closely with over the past few years: Stephen, Tammy, John-Anthony, Daryl, and James, as well as our numerous talented contributors – thank you for consistently brightening my day. I’m excited to see what’s next.

iMore will remain online, allowing readers to seamlessly access archived entries, while the discussion forum will remain active until November 1, continuing to foster a vibrant community atmosphere for our audience. Our sister websites, TechRadar.com and TomsGuide.com, will continue to provide unparalleled coverage of Apple-based computing, publishing all the latest news, reviews, and features. Meanwhile, our colleagues at WindowsCentral.com and AndroidCentral.com remain committed to delivering top-notch information, evaluations, and recommendations from the Microsoft and Google ecosystems, ensuring you stay informed about the latest developments in these spaces.

As the moment of departure approaches, it’s essential to secure the watchbands, silence Siri’s chatter, and savor one last toast. Thank you for allowing us to explore new possibilities and experiences together over the years. What’s your cloud storage strategy for backing up data?
