China’s DEEP Robotics has added a new quadruped to its lineup, called the Lynx. While some might opt to take a stroll on pavement, this medium-sized dog instead zooms along on four wheels, designed for off-road adventures as showcased in the pre-launch promotional materials.

While crawling on all fours may be suitable for some assignments, its pace could be relatively slow.
As wheel innovations take centre stage, recent developments have vividly illustrated the boundless opportunities that arise when traditional pads are replaced with wheels, as exemplified by the most recent advancements. Deep Robotics has unveiled a latest addition to its innovative robotic series, showcasing agile all-terrain movement ahead of a comprehensive launch announcement.

The Lynx will join the company’s existing range of pad-bearing, four-legged robots – Spot, Atlas, and Boston Dynamics. As demonstrated in the promotional teaser, the added wheels enhance both speed and enjoyment while maintaining a similar level of control.
When the new mid-sized robodog from DEEP Robotics arrives, it will feature locking wheels that enable smooth strolls along flat terrain and effortless climbing over obstacles, mirroring the capabilities of its opposite-wheeled counterparts discussed earlier. Motors capable of propelling the quadruped effortlessly across a variety of terrain, including free earth, dusty gravel, and relatively tame pavement.
Despite the challenges, a blend of diverse filming modes were employed to capture the grueling experience of navigating the punishing multi-terrain assault course. A thrilling adventure unfolds as a brave explorer navigates a treacherous descent down a precipitous slope, punctuated by multiple excursions on two-wheeled legs and a daring ascent over an imposing 80-centimeter-high boulder.
The official launch will provide insight into the artificial intelligence training methods used and the machine’s specifications; however, existing robot dog models can operate autonomously for up to four hours on a single charge in industrial environments.
