What to anticipate: Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6

Samsung is anticipated to host its flagship Unpacked event, where it will unveil innovative new devices, including the highly-anticipated foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold series, alongside potentially other exciting products. As a nod to the upcoming Olympics, which kick off on July 26, Samsung’s strategic partnership comes into play; as a significant sponsor, it requires prominent exposure for its latest gadgets during the opening and closing ceremonies.

As the launch date for Samsung’s Galaxy foldables approaches, numerous leaks and rumors have surfaced over several months, requiring a comprehensive summary to help readers prepare for what’s to come this July. This review will focus on the Galaxy Z Flip6, while another will cover the Galaxy Z Fold6.

Cheaper FE mannequin incoming

Samsung emerged as a pioneering force in the foldable space, with its expertise continually improving through successive technological advancements. Despite various fluctuations, one aspect that has maintained a remarkable stability is the value. The corporation has finally reached a stage where it’s capable of offering a more affordable model alongside its standard, flagship-grade Flip.

The Samsung Galaxy series, including the Galaxy S FE lineup, has a reputation for innovative designs and cutting-edge features. Measuring 165.2 x 71.9 x 6.9 millimeters when unfolded, the device is identical to the Z Flip 5; however, the Z Flip 6 will be only slightly thicker. It may be suggested that this could actually represent a Galaxy Z Flip5 FE, which incorporates hardware components borrowed from the 2023 model.

A good greater cowl show

The Galaxy Z Flip 5’s standout upgrade was the innovative Flex Window feature, boasting a sleek 3.4-inch external display. Compared to the compact 1.9-inch screen of its predecessor, this revamped model significantly altered your experience using a phone. It is capable of showcasing advanced widgets, and it is also able to run full-fledged Android applications seamlessly.

Samsung reportedly aims to surpass its previous successes with the impending Galaxy Z Flip 6, which allegedly boasts a slew of enhancements. What we lack in understanding the concept’s significance is quantifiable, much like the way the camera’s gaze seamlessly transitions across the duvet’s intricate design.

Gorilla Glass Armour, currently used on the S24 Extreme, might potentially make an appearance. This revolutionary glass technology significantly reduces reflectivity, making it an ideal candidate for exclusive display on the duvet show.

What drives innovation at Samsung is our commitment to the principles of simplicity and elegance. While durability is a primary concern when considering a first-time purchase of a foldable device, aside from price, the Fold Edition’s value proposition comes into play.

While there hasn’t been a public demonstration of LTPO technology in action, the S24 series’ recent adoption of variable refresh rates up to 120Hz doesn’t seem entirely improbable.

Dimensions

Reportedly measuring 165.1 millimeters by 71.9 millimeters by 6.9 millimeters when unfolded, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6. The Galaxy S22 Ultra’s dimensions are remarkably similar to those of the Z Flip5 at 165.1 x 71.9 x 6.9mm. The brand-new mannequin will weigh approximately 187 grams.

Newly surfaced speculative renders appear to confirm that the upcoming Z Flip6 will retain its predecessor’s familiar design aesthetic, showcasing a near-identical visual profile.

Based on unofficial reports, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 is anticipated to launch in four colours: Misty Blue, Mint Green, Metallic Silver, and Sunshine Yellow.

Greater battery

The thicker design reportedly enables the Z Flip6 to accommodate a 4,000mAh battery, a 300mAh increase from its predecessor, the Z Flip5. The batteries will likely be split between two cells: 1,097mAh and 2,790mAh.

The battery has an actual capacity of approximately 3,887mAh, although its typical or rated capacity is advertised as being around 4,000mAh. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5’s battery configuration consists of a 971mAh cell combined with a larger 2,620mAh unit, yielding a total capacity of 3,591mAh (rated) or 3,700mAh (typical).

Exynos and/or Snapdragon

The possibility of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 being equipped with the same chip used in international Galaxy S24 variants was first noticed in March through reviews suggesting this feature might become a reality. During our rigorous testing, the Exynos processor displayed impressive speed, but the compact Galaxy S24 faced challenges in maintaining a stable temperature, ultimately affecting its overall performance. Reports suggest Samsung is enhancing the cooling system of its latest Flip model, but it’s unclear if this improvement will be enough to address concerns about thermal management – the Z Flip5 struggled with heat under prolonged usage.

Earlier this month, we spotted a Galaxy Z Flip 6 prototype running through Geekbench, hinting at an imminent launch. Regional variations in Flip devices could include different processor options, with some regions receiving the Samsung Exynos chip and others the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor?

According to insiders, the forthcoming Galaxy Z Flip FE is expected to leverage. While the Exynos 1480 doesn’t have a direct counterpart, the 7nm Gen 2 chip originates from Samsung’s in-house manufacturing facilities, implying a shared lineage.

12GB of RAM, with 8GB dedicated to the FE.

Previously, Galaxy Z Flip models were limited to 8GB of RAM. But now, the Z Flip6 is set to follow in the footsteps of the S24+, potentially boasting the same impressive amount of memory. The Geekbench results confirm the device’s RAM capacity as 8GB, ensuring this is indeed its baseline performance.

The Galaxy Z Flip FE’s RAM remains at 8GB, consistent with its budget-friendly designation.

The smartphone’s internal storage options are said to include 256GB and 512GB capacities when transferring data onto the device’s storage system. While matching the Z Flip 5’s offerings isn’t out of the question, it’s improbable that the Z Flip 6 would deviate from its predecessor without introducing new features or upgrades.

50MP primary digicam

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 may feature dual cameras. While The Flip has long been equipped with 12+12MP dual cameras from its inception, it’s unlikely to receive a dedicated telephoto camera in the near future.

It’s rumored that the Z Flip6 may see improvements within the next 12 months. The camera would feature advanced optics with up to 2x optical zoom capabilities within the sensor itself. Will we be able to acquire more comprehensive high-definition images of both daytime and nighttime scenes at a scale of 1:1? The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 camera was impressive from the start, but its rivals haven’t remained stagnant either.

The camera suite is expected to remain consistent, with a primary sensor still anticipated to offer 12 megapixels, while the front-facing lens will likely maintain its current resolution of 10 megapixels without an upgrade.

What else?

It’s evident that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 will incorporate the latest Galaxy AI features. Software support for operating system updates and security patches is likely to stretch up to seven years, mirroring the commitment seen in Samsung’s S24 series.

What about value? While there’s no official confirmation, it’s likely that the Galaxy Z Flip6 will occupy the same price range as its predecessor, the Z Flip5; meanwhile, the Z Flip FE could potentially be priced lower than its counterpart.
