VIVO X200: Expert Mini-Hands-On Analysis

Vivo has launched its X200 series, featuring three new smartphones: the X200 Pro, the X200, and the X200 Plus. Without a doubt, the Mini stands out as the most impressive among them all.

Miniature means smaller, not inferior. While the X200 Professional mini boasts the same display technology, essentially identical cameras, and cutting-edge chipset as its full-sized counterpart, it offers a more streamlined, distinct package in a compact form.

So what’s totally different? The most striking visual difference lies in the distinctive frosted glass finish of the X200 Professional mini. The Lenovo ThinkPad X200 Professional features a sleek and polished finish.

Vivo has taken significant strides forward with its X200 series, surpassing the innovations of its X100 predecessor. With sleek designs taking centre stage, the latest smartphones boast a significantly flatter profile compared to their predecessors, with the mini model showcasing an unprecedented level of slimness.

While the debate between curved and flat screens has been ongoing among tech enthusiasts, the prevailing opinion suggests that flat screens are easier to manage, offering a higher viewing angle and compatibility with display screen protectors. Unlike other manufacturers, Vivo resisted the trend towards flat flagship designs, opting instead to maintain a more traditional aesthetic.

What sets the vivo X200 Pro apart as a truly miniature device is its diminutive display size. The 6.31-inch diagonal screen size represents a notable reduction compared to the 6.78-inch display found on the typical X200 Professional model. The vivo X200 Professional mini boasts a 120Hz LTPO AMOLED display, featuring Dolby Vision technology and an impressive peak brightness of up to 4,500 nits.

The Vivo X50 Pro mini features a comparable 3nm Dimensity 9000 processor. The device’s processing power is truly exceptional, boasting a single Cortex-X2 core that can reach speeds of up to 3.63 GHz, alongside three additional Cortex-A4 cores capable of operating at frequencies of up to 3.3 GHz. The Immortalis-G925 boasts a robust 12-core configuration, paired with either 12GB or 16GB of RAM for seamless multitasking and demanding applications.

The star of the show in the vivo X200 Professional collection is undoubtedly its camera system. The X200 Professional mini features a tri-camera setup consisting of a 50MP 1/1.28-inch primary sensor (23mm f/1.57), complemented by a 50MP 15mm f/2.0 ultrawide-angle camera with autofocus capabilities, and a third 50MP periscope lens utilizing a 1/1.95-inch sensor and a 70mm f/2.6 focal length? While not as spectacular as the 200MP camera on the vivo X200 Pro’s, it still delivers robust images when zoomed in.
