Trexo Robotics has enabled children to take over 100 million strides with its innovative robotic orthosis. The innovative system enables young individuals with disabilities to develop enhanced energy levels, prolonged endurance, and precise gait patterns. Trexo’s brace has the potential to benefit young individuals struggling with a wide range of conditions, including cerebral palsy, spinal muscular atrophy, muscular dystrophy, stroke-induced brain damage, hemiparesis, paraplegia, spinal cord injuries, Rett syndrome, and various neuromuscular disorders.

Founded in 2016, the Ontario, Canada-headquartered company was established by CEO Manmeet Maggu and CTO Rahul Udasi to support Maggu’s nephew, leveraging their combined expertise to drive innovation and growth. Trexo claims to tailor the gait of its braces to each individual customer, with the ability to fine-tune this customized gait as needed over time. The corporation is capable of modifying the system to adapt to alterations in gait samples, adjust step velocities, manage weight-bearing quantities, and optimize the level of assistance provided. Additionally, it features two customizable training modes: Endurance and Energy Coaching, designed to cater to children’s unique needs.

For many children, they were told they would never be able to walk. One of the 100 million individual steps taken by those who have walked this path tells a distinct tale – a narrative of courage, resilience, and optimism, according to Maggu. “This milestone comprises a multitude of distinct moments, each exemplifying enhanced vitality, elevated wellness, and radiant possibilities.”

The goal of encouraging young people to take a significant number of steps wasn’t something we had explicitly set; instead, our intention was for them to accumulate as many steps as possible. “It’s truly remarkable to see children, starting with a single step and driven by their unique goals, accumulate an astonishing amount,” Udasi said.

The corporation is hosting a celebratory event to commemorate this milestone achievement in Toronto on December. 6, 2024. The celebration will honour the invaluable contributions of young people, parents, and group members who have played a crucial role in its success. The commemoration will feature Trexo’s innovative robotic legs taking steps independently, impassioned orations, and an unexpected surprise from a treasured Trexo customer, among other highlights.

Looking ahead to new challenges, Trexo sets its sights on achieving ambitious goals. The initiative aims to achieve a staggering 500 million steps, equivalent to walking all the way to the moon and back.

“Trexo’s head of marketing, Jenn Horowitz, expressed excitement about the staggering statistics, highlighting their potential impact on children.” “For now, let’s take a moment to pause, reflect, and truly appreciate the time.”
