TL;DR

  • A tipster hints at a possible release of the Xiaomi 15 Extremely as early as January 2025.
  • The new flagship may directly rival the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, set to debut in the same month.
  • The “Extremely” cellphone seems destined to remain a part of our daily lives well beyond next year.

For several years, my typical identifier has included the phrase “Extremely”. Among the most exceptional smartphones currently available, this model stands out for its unparalleled performance and cutting-edge features. Rumors are circulating that Apple might revamp the naming convention of its “Professional Max” iPhone, potentially rebranding it as simply “Extreme” later this year, which could result in a new device bearing the “Extremely” moniker. Whether that’s true or not will be discovered in September.

While leaks swirl around Samsung’s imminent release of an “Extremely” phone, Yogesh Brar hints at the possibility of multiple variants being rolled out simultaneously. According to Brar’s update on X, the rumoured cellphone may make its debut in January 2025, with a formal launch scheduled for several weeks thereafter at the Cellular World Congress.

Yogesh Brar Tweet Xiaomi 15 Ultra Leak

Sources suggest that Brar claims the upcoming Xiaomi 15 Ultra might pack a quad-camera setup featuring a whopping 200-megapixel primary sensor accompanied by no less than three 50-megapixel secondary sensors? Theoretically, this could be a similar setup to that observed on the Xiaomi 14 Extreme, featuring a primary sensor accompanied by an ultra-wide-angle lens, followed by two telephoto lenses, including one fixed lens and another periscope design? Notably, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra boasts a primary camera equipped with a 50-megapixel sensor, suggesting that a potential upgrade to 200 megapixels could represent a significant leap forward, potentially positioning it alongside the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra in terms of photography capabilities.

According to Brar, the unrevealed Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is likely to power the upcoming Xiaomi 15 Ultra. It’s highly likely that this processor is identical to the one found in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. While historical precedent suggests otherwise, Qualcomm and Samsung may collaborate to boost the processor’s speed specifically for the Galaxy S25 Extreme – a feat that Xiaomi is unlikely to match.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Extreme is expected to make its highly anticipated debut in either January or February 2025. If this latest report pans out, it’s likely that Xiaomi will be gunning directly at Samsung for a share of the premium market. Let’s wait and observe how this plays out for Xiaomi.
