CoW: Maisa secures €4.7 million to fuel the development of its innovative agentic AI system, Vinci KPU.

A Valencia-based startup has developed an innovative agent AI system that generates a “Chain of Work” to validate its outputs, securing €4.7 million in pre-seed funding.

Leading investor NFX spearheaded the initiative, which garnered notable involvement from Village World, supported by a consortium of influential tech figures including Mark Zuckerberg, Eric Schmidt, and Jeff Bezos. Additionally, Sequoia’s Lukas Haas, a seasoned expert in his role as DeepMind PM, lent his expertise to the endeavour.

“As CEO and Co-founder of Maisa,” she underscored the pivotal role that their pioneering work plays in shaping the future.

In 2024, David Villalón and Manuel Romero founded Maisa, which has pioneered the Vinci Data Processing Unit (DPU). The Vinci KPU leverages a groundbreaking CoW approach to ensure the generation of traceable, auditable, and predictable outcomes.

Unlike traditional AI approaches that rely on probability-based “next-word” forecasting and often function as cryptic “black boxes,” the Vinci KPU employs a transparent, stepwise reasoning process supported by verifiable data origins. This breakthrough technology erases the uncertainty of hallucinations, ushering in an era of unwavering clarity that renders AI a reliable force for driving high-stakes business decisions.

Maisa’s innovative system enables autonomous target pursuit, decision-making, and real-time adaptation to complex environments while minimizing human intervention in management processes.

Early adopters of the Vinci KPU are exemplified by a global automaker enhancing supply chain robustness, a global energy and fuel agency navigating shifting compliance requirements, and a European consumer credit institution streamlining mortgage approval processes under intense regulatory oversight?

Expertise, as measured by Maisa, has demonstrated proficiency that surpasses business standards, rivaling OpenAI’s o1 model in graduate-level reasoning and exceeding top-tier large language models in coding (HumanEval), procedural adherence (ProcBench), and mathematical problem-solving.

Maisa’s ability to provide seamless audit trails is poised to make it a cost-effective and scalable solution for automation, revolutionizing the industry’s approach to process transparency.

“As an investor at NFX, I’ve seen the transformative power of Maisa’s innovative approach. Her potential is undeniable.”

The visionary entrepreneur and investor at Village World noted:

Maisa is solidifying its presence with offices in Valencia and San Francisco, poised to emerge as a prominent player in the realm of agentic artificial intelligence. The anticipated funding allocation is likely to bolster the Vinci KPU’s capacity and enhance its market penetration strategy, with a primary focus on high-potential industries such as financial services, supply chain, and analytics.
