Mastering SQL query creation is an essential component of the Rockset product expertise. We’re pleased to introduce a newly released Question Editor in the Rockset Console, featuring enhanced performance and a modernized interface.
Upgraded Efficiency
The primary driving force behind the development of our new question editor technology was to address the pressing performance issues that had plagued our previous question editor. While the original question editor functioned reasonably well, it exhibited significant slowdowns when handling large requests and became increasingly unresponsive over extended periods of usage. To address several outstanding concerns, the parser employed in the question editor was updated and redundant rerendering was discontinued. Although the efficiency was ultimately improved by reconfiguring the libraries, this outcome raises questions about the editor’s inquiry process. The Rockset question editor is built upon an open-source code editor library available online. A huge thank you goes out to the talented developers behind CodeMirror for their tireless efforts in crafting this incredible library! As of June 2022, the innovative CodeMirror 6 has finally arrived on the scene, revolutionizing coding experiences worldwide. CodeMirror 6 represents a ground-up reimagining of the CodeMirror editor, informed by the insights gained from its predecessors, with a primary focus on scalability and performance improvements. To coincide with the upgrade to CodeMirror 6, we seized the opportunity to thoroughly revamp the Rockset question editor, incorporating design and functionality improvements.
