As summer vibes are hard to ignore, why let a few gadget updates ruin the fun? This month, we acquired replacements for both the Insta360 GO and Sony devices. We also put our hands on the handheld console, which features a significantly larger battery capacity compared to the Steam Deck. Waterproof speakers that offer great value and performance are perfect for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy listening to music while engaging in activities like boating, biking, or even beach parties where loud tunes are a social norm. Here’s what we enjoyed in June 2024.

What’s a $400 camera doing in your hands, rather than capturing the adorable antics of Fluffy or Whiskers?

The new camera replaces last year’s Go 3 with up to 4K capturing at 30fps, a significant upgrade from the typical 2.7K on the standard Go 3, resulting in significantly reduced distortion even at higher zoom levels. The Go 3S features a broader lens, measuring 16mm, a significant increase from its predecessors’ 11mm lenses, which effectively minimizes edge distortion.

The Asus VG248QE 4K monitor delivers the same level of color saturation and vibrancy found in its smartphone models, bringing unparalleled visuals to your gaming experience on a PC or console, courtesy of its 240Hz refresh rate capability. Without a separate console, the Odyssey enables seamless streaming of your beloved applications and video games.

The $800 smartphone has just been released, a mere year after its predecessor made its debut on the market. The device boasts impressive battery life and efficiency gains, thanks to its upgraded battery pack and increased memory capabilities. The reengineered chassis now provides a more ergonomic fit for extended gaming sessions.

Asus has released a pair of innovative two-in-one devices that leverage the power of both AMD and Qualcomm processors. As part of Microsoft’s Co-Pilot+ initiative, these devices exhibit more promise than their AI-driven counterparts from other manufacturers. While the Bottom ProArt P16 laptop computer is largely based on the ROG Zephyrus G16 gaming laptop computer, it offers a more portable and compact design.

Sony TVs continue to be compelling options for consumers seeking high-quality displays. The $2,000 65-inch TV’s design blends seamlessly with competing QLED models, but it truly shines with its exceptional HDR capabilities, delivering vibrant and captivating colour experiences that elevate your viewing pleasure to the next level. One crucial consideration is avoiding direct, gentle light sources near the TV as they can create an unwelcome glare.

The JBL Clip 5 and Go 4 are two waterproof portable Bluetooth speakers that pack a punch when it comes to sound quality.

Their compact sizes make them easy to take on-the-go, with the JBL Clip 5 featuring a carabiner clip for attaching to backpacks or belts, while the JBL Go 4 is smaller and more lightweight.

When summer arrives, consider investing in a water-resistant Bluetooth speaker, ideal for situations where you can fully appreciate your tunes. These weights are all under one pound, making it easy to carry them around in a backpack or beach bag. They’re $80 and $50, respectively.
