Last summer, the film community was left reeling by the passing of veteran actor, who succumbed to his illness at the age of 75. Renowned for a plethora of iconic films, she began to step away from the spotlight in the early 2000s before famously retiring after the 2002 independent film However, in 2022, she stunned fans with the announcement that she would once again take on what proved to be her final role ever.
The film, which recently debuted its first trailer ahead of its early October release. In the film, Chico Mendes portrays Rico, a camper in the Catskill Mountains, who suffers a devastating blow to the head, ultimately conjuring bizarre and unsettling visions that haunt him relentlessly. As the days pass, Billy’s constant whispers of doubt begin to gnaw at Rico’s confidence, sowing seeds of uncertainty: is he indeed transforming into a werewolf, and if so, what other eerie occurrences are lurking beneath the surface? As Rico grapples with this reality, he must also contend with his tumultuous past, particularly the complicated dynamics with his mother, portrayed by the exceptional Shailene Duvall.
Initially, Duvall was slated for a minor flashback appearance akin to Pamela Voorhees’ cameo; however, as she discussed working with actors on set, her role was subsequently expanded. As he reflected on his experience working with Shelley, he fondly recalled having the opportunity to collaborate with her in person, cherishing the time they spent together on set – her variety, sweetness, kindness, and exceptional acting talent leaving a lasting impression. “Sheer delight working alongside Shelley, whose talent and dedication left an indelible mark on me; I’m forever grateful for the opportunity to bring out her best.”
Will & hit will choose theaters on October 4, followed by a streaming release on October 8.
