The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) is three years younger than I am.

As this week marks the thirty-year milestone of a gaming phenomenon, I find myself reflecting on a peculiar revelation – I’ve aged beyond the authority that defines what’s suitable for my demographic in the world of video games. I’m struggling to recall how that snippet of trivia managed to evade my mental radar, but I must admit it’s quite the clever way to gauge my age, if you ask me. The ESRB’s decision is still raw, but it’s surprising they would release a celebratory track, which, honestly, has become an infectious anthem.

In a surprising turn of events, Valve has finally confirmed its long-rumored project, just days after gamers were given a glimpse into the unreleased game’s existence. The company’s treatment reveals plans to expand beyond management 2, with a focus on developing its rich universe’s lore across various platforms, including television and film productions. Wishing them good fortune, I was initially uncertain after Remedy Entertainment attempted a similar endeavour with Quantum Break.

A standout moment in my week was the eagerly anticipated Nintendo Direct presentation, which delighted audiences by revealing not only a diverse selection of independent games but also several intriguing collaborations.

Who would have ever predicted that Yakuza Kiwami would find its way to the Switch? Yet, Sega has pleasantly surprised me by doing just that. While several recreations caught my attention, none garnered as much thought as Date All the Things, a charming visual novel/romance simulation by Sassy Chap Games that piqued my curiosity with its playful premise and tantalizing storylines. While I’m torn between my family’s treasured possessions, I particularly appreciate the boldness they exhibit, and I believe it’s essential to nurture more of this trait.

As a lifelong Star Wars enthusiast, I feel compelled to explore the upcoming series Star Wars: The Bad Batch – my anticipation is building! Notwithstanding the initial commitment, another attraction draws my attention: Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club, arriving this week. As a fan of thrillers and having enjoyed the remastered Famicom Detective Membership trilogy, this game was an absolute must-play for me.
