Given the lack of deliberative purpose, we nonetheless acknowledge the importance of forthrightness and collective participation in our consideration.
Building on the summit’s discussions, we’re shedding light on the key takeaways and areas of agreement that emerged, offering a glimpse into our initial interactions.

With our partner companies, which specialize in creating endpoint security and additional security solutions for Windows, encompassing consumer, server, and IoT applications, we discussed the intricacies of the modern security landscape, recognizing that there are no straightforward answers.
. As the vast array of endpoint products inundates the market, it’s clear that we collectively bear a responsibility to emphasize robustness by openly discussing how our offerings function, address updates, and navigate disruptions effectively.
Initially, we delved into the implementation of Secure Deployment Practices (SDP) at Microsoft, focusing on establishing collaborative best practices among team members through knowledge-sharing, tool-provisioning, and process-documentation. In deploying Windows updates, we confront a familiar set of hurdles, including determining the optimal approach for controlled rollouts across diverse endpoint populations, and ensuring the ability to pause or reverse course if necessary. A fundamental principle of software development practices (SDP) is the incremental and phased rollout of updates delivered to end-users. Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and many of our ecosystem partners, such as, have shared their approaches to SDPs as well. As we convene at the Summit, our collective efforts will focus on crafting a unified approach, in partnership with our esteemed MVI associates, to establish a comprehensive set of best practices that will serve as a guiding framework for our ecosystem moving forward.
Following successful completion of SDP initiatives, we will soon enhance patron support through several strategies. By building upon the MVI program, we immediately capitalize on improvements to vital components, enhancing joint compatibility testing across various configurations, driving increased information sharing on in-development and in-market product health, and optimizing incident response effectiveness through tightened coordination and recovery procedures.

Our clients and ecosystem partners have called upon Microsoft to provide additional security capabilities outside of kernel mode, which, alongside System Data Protection (SDP), can be used to develop highly accessible security solutions. At the summit, Microsoft and partners discussed the crucial requirements and primary obstacles to developing a novel platform that could effectively cater to the needs of security vendors.
