The startup has secured $3 million in funding to advance the development of DigiGods, a cutting-edge social extended reality (XR) platform.

Triptyq Capital spearheaded the funding round, securing participation from prominent strategic investors such as Grishin Robotics, FJ Labs, Hartmann Capital, Fairway Capital, Earthling VC, and the Canada Media Fund (CMF), which invested $1.1 million through its Innovation in Experimentation Program.

Ditch simulations that impose artificial boundaries on player experiences. DigiGods unlocks portals to an immersive realm tailored specifically for the refined tastes of Generation Z and Alpha consumers seeking unparalleled experiences. In a virtual realm, gamers come together to craft worlds, bring inanimate objects to life, socialize with fellow players, and forge unforgettable experiences as a team – exploring vibrant metropolises alongside mystical landscapes.

“With its commitment to innovative creativity and heartfelt storytelling, DigiGods shines brightly in the vibrant landscape of social gaming,” declares David Chartrand, CEO and co-founder of Squido Studio. “Our mission is clear: to build a authentic, immersive online space where users can collaborate and connect.” We’re accelerating innovation, scaling our team, and rolling out DigiGods worldwide to craft a one-of-a-kind, fully immersive experience.

With this funding, Squido Studio intends to grow its team in Montreal by recruiting top talent passionate about advancing XR technologies. Here’s a revised version: This innovative initiative provides Quebec-based construction companies with the opportunity to play a leading role in revolutionizing social gaming.

Squido stands on the cusp of revolutionizing social interaction in Extended Reality (XR) with its innovative platform and exceptional team, according to Bertrand Nepveu, Associate at Triptyq Capital. “The unique value proposition of this expertise is empowering a new form of community engagement that surpasses the limitations of traditional social media platforms.”

Confirmed Management in XR

Squidoo Studio has a rich history of innovating and challenging conventions. The corporation’s debut virtual reality title, No Extra Rainbows, achieved significant commercial success in its first year, generating over $2 million in revenue and captivating a vast audience of more than 500,000 players worldwide. The co-founding duo of David Chartrand and Philippe Cournoyer has reportedly established a strong presence within the XR space, uniquely poised to revolutionize social virtual reality experiences through their innovative platform, DigiGods.

With its impressive early traction, DigiGods has garnered more than 100,000 players, coupled with an exceptional 4.8-star rating based on reviews from over 8,000 individuals on the Meta Quest Store. By year-end, Squido aims to attract a million gamers through comprehensive content updates, strategic partnerships, player incentives, and influential collaborations that drive engagement and loyalty.

Meta’s assistance has played a crucial role in Squido’s triumph, offering valuable exposure within the rapidly expanding virtual reality landscape. As Meta’s virtual reality user base surges by more than 50% annually and engagement with Meta Quest merchandise increases by a whopping 75%, the company’s strategic partnership fosters a secure and productive community experience through cutting-edge moderation tools.

Building on the swift and soaring success of No Extra Rainbows, DigiGods is poised to captivate an even wider audience with its audacious debut.

In 2019, the studio started operations; according to an email sent by Chartrand to GamesBeat, the company had grown to employ 22 people, a significant increase from its previous headcount of 16 just a few months prior.

According to Chartrand, the driving force behind DigiGods lies in the team’s passion for pioneering innovation within the immersive XR gaming sphere. Let’s transform our VR prowess into captivating, high-caliber video games that propel our organization forward and drive success. Preliminary thoughts were influenced by the explosive growth of platforms like TikTok, where users can rapidly create and engage with diverse content. It quickly evolved into a significantly more prominent issue.

In a nutshell, it was disseminated via TikTok, enabled creation of a Roblox-like environment without requiring intricate game development tools, and prioritized virtual reality (VR) integration from the outset?

What sets it apart is its intuitive user interface, which enables gamers to craft and customize engaging scenarios effortlessly through a straightforward drag-and-drop process. Gamers can rapidly construct diverse gaming environments, transforming a setting from a spooky mansion to a gravity-defying soccer pitch or intense first-person shooter battle arena in mere minutes, effortlessly swapping between each scenario. Including fresh thematic content each month, akin to unique art packs, building sets, and cosmetics, keeps the game vibrant and engaging.

Coming soon, we’re thrilled to announce partnerships with leading gaming and entertainment brands that will bring innovative building components and tools to the table, further expanding creative possibilities for players. Get ready for an electrifying new take on the classic Kaiju genre.
