Might you inform us a bit about your self, your background, and what drew you to Knowledge & Analytics?

As a seasoned leader, I’ve had the privilege of overseeing Analytics Engineering and Knowledge Analytics at Signifyd for approximately four and a half years. 

I bought began in Knowledge & Analytics after I joined Jet.com, an eCommerce retailer that was acquired by Walmart. Following our relocation to Walmart, I transitioned into the field of pricing analytics, a move that leveraged my existing knowledge and skills as an economist. It captivated my attention to observe how information could be leveraged in numerous ways, showcasing distinct characteristics.

I would describe my information group as a dynamic and diverse collective of professionals who share knowledge and insights to inform and educate.

As a pioneering entity, Signifyd stands out by prioritizing its role as a Knowledge Science company above all else. This is our product, and it’s just a step towards completion. Commission is earned upon presenting a selection. Our team’s distinctive structure fosters dynamic discussions regarding our role as a knowledge products group. 

So, our newly formed Choice Science group is situated within a specific area and leverages an abundance of data to inform their decision-making process. Within our organization, the information group is an integral component of the product group, treating data as a premium asset, on par with products. 

Our team consists of analytics engineers, individuals who are hands-on with data and design tools, crafting solutions for others to utilize effectively. There exist Analysts, some of whom are strategically positioned to support teams such as Product, Advertising, Knowledge Science, and Finance. As we’ve started to decentralize certain analytical capabilities within a decentralized architecture, these smaller units are now scaling to a point where their seamless integration with our centralized team of Enterprise Analysts and Analytics Engineers is proving effective.

Why organisations should invest in a robust metadata administration solution to ensure seamless data discovery, accessibility and management. What was lacking?

Initially, our group’s most effective organizational approach was to create distinct silos for managing information. While Root Trigger Evaluation may introduce additional intricacies for our data teams, straightforward inquiries remain a challenge. We continually test and release new products, requiring customers to frequently update their information with us. Given that the information group is distant from the core of the issue, it’s essential to seek clarity by posing questions in both Product and Engineering channels on Slack, as contextual understanding is currently lacking? The prolonged process has exacted a toll on our analytics team, most notably affecting those who strive to generate profitable opportunities for our clients.

If a shopper is not receiving optimal service, this could negatively impact their business. Ensuring that individuals have access to accurate information and comprehend its significance is of utmost importance. We discovered that the numerous isolated approaches to managing data created an even stronger case for adopting a clear and transparent methodology for sharing information across all systems.

Thus, we initiated an examination of centralized cataloging tools. As we explored Looker, our initial destination for the data, we realized it wasn’t suitable due to its timing in the information flow, making it an ineffective repository for the data. As we started considering Atlan.

What particularly caught my attention was the emerging trend of digital transformation, which seemed to be accelerating at an unprecedented pace. What was essential?

In the Energetic Metadata Administration market, a significant identity crisis exists among numerous providers. Are you optimizing technical processes for advanced users seeking efficiency gains, or are you developing comprehensive solutions for non-technical executives requiring educational guidance on workflow management? 

Our key driver was the need to carefully consider all possible scenarios to ensure our decision would remain effective across various use cases, ultimately enabling us to achieve economies of scale and optimize our growth strategy. To leave business customers, who could gain the most from our solution, isolated while addressing only the pain points of Knowledge Engineers and Analysts would be a shortsighted approach we cannot afford.

Following our comprehensive analysis of various distributors, we discovered that the crucial takeaway is that unless a provider is genuinely tailoring their approach to specific personas, they risk missing the mark and failing to engage with the target business customer. With Atlantec, enterprises enjoy seamless integration through its Chrome extension, eliminating the need for additional login credentials. While employing opposite approaches will enable you to develop personas, their practical application won’t necessarily unfold seamlessly throughout the entire process? 

Will our advanced technology be utilized by technically sophisticated users? Despite appreciating Atlan’s provision of support for non-technical users, we recognized that this feature greatly simplified enrichment tasks for Knowledge Analysts, enabling them to contribute value without needing to comprehend the intricacies of metadata scraping beforehand.

Our assessment suggests that Atlan’s product occupies a unique sweet spot, effectively bridging the gap between the needs of enterprise customers and those of technical customers.

While some teams maintain separate documentation, our organization relies primarily on Confluence for collaborative knowledge sharing, with occasional use of Slack to facilitate swift communication and coordination. We’re currently testing internal solutions to identify what functions effectively, but we’re eager to leverage contextualized and tagged information on Slack through the integration with Atlan. It’s essential to ensure a seamless arrangement is in place to deliver value to customers promptly. If we detect a consistent pattern of queries from 20 or more customers on Slack regarding a specific asset, we will proactively create documentation to address those concerns.

What sets me apart, particularly within our team that places a premium on financial transparency, is my expertise in articulating value to both the organization and internal stakeholders. To achieve successful adoption, consider fostering a willingness through effective change management. To confirm we’re maximizing Atlan’s value, while also ensuring all business and technical stakeholders are deriving benefits.
