The Galaxy Retailer app has unveiled an update, effective September 25, requiring users to register with a Samsung ID for access to features such as app downloads and software updates.
Despite not being your typical app store destination, you’ll still need to create a Samsung account eventually; otherwise, some apps already installed on your phone might stop receiving updates.

In the intervening period, the Galaxy Retailer app functions as intended, allowing seamless searches and downloads when not logged in; however, to complete the installation process, users must log in to their Samsung account.
If you haven’t yet created a Samsung account, now is the perfect opportunity to sign up. In all other cases, you’ll risk being stuck with outdated apps that may ultimately become obsolete. Furthermore, outdated apps pose a significant safety risk and are increasingly vulnerable to attacks.
To further integrate users into its sprawling ecosystem, Samsung is mandating a Samsung account login for many of its apps, including Members and Health, building upon the existing requirement for these services.
By linking their Google account, customers can seamlessly integrate the new service without having to manage an additional login – a convenient alternative to handling multiple accounts.
