As a surprise move, Google is gearing up to take an unconventional approach with its upcoming product launch. According to reports, the technology giant’s upcoming flagship smartphone is expected to launch with Android 14 rather than the anticipated Android 15. If this is accurate, it would mark the first instance where the company introduces a new flagship device with an older operating system version.

The upcoming Pixel 9 series is set to debut on August 13 at the company’s annual Made by Google event. The report purports to substantiate its assertions by suggesting that the secure variant of Android 15 could potentially become available at any point within a timeframe spanning from August 1st to the end of October. While it’s likely to be a temporary situation, Android 14 is expected to remain present once we enter the market.

The publication has a history of retraction, having previously needed to correct false information and misinformation in their reporting.
