Disruptive innovation is poised to revolutionize the power trade landscape.

Constructing on the identical instance of PG&E, which I referenced earlier; via our collaboration, piece by piece progressively, we’re constructing the spine of a sustainable, digitized, and dependable power future in California with the deployment of EcoStruxure DERMS. As the importance of grid reliability and adaptability escalates, advanced Distribution Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS) empower utilities to harmonize with the evolving demands of the 21st-century grid.

Shifting quickly in today’s digital landscape requires embracing open programmes and platforms to foster an interoperable ecosystem? By embracing open requirements, organizations enable a diverse array of experts to work in tandem, fostering collaboration between startups, large corporations, influential decision-makers, and frontline personnel. This forward-thinking approach to funding provides adaptable and flexible alternatives, thereby mitigating the need for expensive upgrades in the near future and reducing the risk of technological obsolescence. At Innovation on the Edge, we’re forging a mutually beneficial alliance to accelerate the adoption of cutting-edge technology and establish a strong foundation for an even more innovative future, empowering stakeholders to seize opportunities today while paving the way for a brighter tomorrow. Innovation on the Edge fosters a culture of collaboration, iteration, and continuous learning, providing the space for bold ideas to flourish and evolve rapidly.

How do you leverage emerging technologies and business models to drive innovation and build the future, particularly when seeking to disrupt established industries?

Innovation is likely to play a pivotal role in propelling the transformation towards new sources of energy and shifting global power dynamics. Creating the ideal conditions for sustained innovation requires a deliberate balance between short-term and long-term priorities.

I must quote one final time the renowned e-book by Clayton Christensen, which vividly illustrates how behemoth organizations can become so adept at their existing activities that they struggle to adapt as the market evolves. And we’re on this dilemma. Let’s stay ahead of the curve? Leaders strive to master cutting-edge knowledge, prioritize customer needs, cultivate creativity, and boldly address emerging complexities. As I reflect on the role of innovation within our powerhouse, the phrase “that’s no longer how we do things” genuinely strikes a chord with me.

Innovation is more than just a buzzword at Schneider – it’s an integral part of our DNA, driving us to push boundaries and shape the future of our industry. We employ a strategic approach to facilitate the smooth transfer of authority. We’re venturing into cutting-edge innovations, embracing revolutionary technologies and entrepreneurial models to seize opportunities and tackle complex challenges head-on. As we continue to evolve our offerings, we are actively shaping a pioneering prosumer ecosystem, a crucial catalyst for accelerating the energy transformation. We drive open innovation through strategic investments and incubation support for pioneering ideas in power management, electric mobility, industrial automation, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and sustainable solutions, ultimately catalyzing breakthroughs across these diverse domains. We’ve collaborated on joint ventures with entities such as GreenStruxure and AlphaStruxure, yielding innovative solutions.

By offering energy-as-a-service options, companies can pioneer a novel business model, empowering organizations to harness cutting-edge technology and drive large-scale decarbonization efforts. GreenStruxure collaborates with Bimbo Bakeries to drive the company closer to achieving net-zero emissions through the installation of a micro-grid system at six key locations. The solar array installed at Bimbo Bakeries’ USA facility will provide approximately 20% of the company’s total power utilization, resulting in a reduction of around 1,700 tons of CO2 emissions annually.

Yeah, that is actually outstanding. As Schneider Electrical outlines prosumerism, it identifies a unique subset of customers who possess both professional and consumer characteristics. These individuals are driven by commercial and technical requirements, yet also prioritize ease-of-use and cost-effectiveness.

Prosumer is my favourite phrase. Let’s redefine it once more. What’s behind the buzz about prosumers? Here is the rewritten text:

The term “prosumer” describes a customer segment that is highly engaged in energy management, leveraging technologies such as solar panels, electric vehicle (EV) chargers, EV batteries, and energy storage to produce and consume their own power. That is all digitally enabled. So many individuals now, shoppers and industry prospects alike, must recognize their collective influence. Installing solar panels to become a prosumer can lead to a significant reduction in your electricity bills? Implausible, proper? Empower individuals with autonomous energy management, transparent power utilization, and incentivized partnerships with utility providers. What a crucial endeavour it is – not just for humanity, but for the very future of our planet – to make a positive impact on the environment through decarbonization. Envision a sustainable future where structures harness their own clean energy from renewable sources, consume what’s needed, and return any excess back to the power grid. This unexpected opportunity holds immense fascination.

In 2019, a significant milestone was reached: a total of 100 gigawatts of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity was deployed globally. By the end of the following year, this figure had nearly quadrupled. Transformation is underway now. Electric vehicles, for instance, are experiencing remarkable growth, with a predicted 14 million units sold by 2023 – a staggering sixfold increase from the 2019 total. Applied sciences are already having a significant impact on reducing emissions and addressing the energy crisis.
