What leverage does Jony Ive have to mobilize Rabbit R1’s 5,000 enthusiastic customers into a formidable force that drives business growth?

Jony Ive, former Apple design chief, has confirmed that he’s collaborating with Sam Altman on a new project, despite the disappointing reception of recent products such as the Humane AI Pin and Rabbit R1.

Rabbit’s Founder, Jesse Lyu, has recently acknowledged that the R1 platform had a significantly lower user base than initially claimed.

When speaking about the product at the Quick Firm Innovation Competition, Lyu was…

The fact remains that those early reckless ideas didn’t prove fatal, did they?

MKBHD infamously panned the Rabbit R1 as a “trainwreck,” sparking a chorus of agreement from commenters who felt he had effectively put the final nail in the coffin for the company.

According to Lyu, around 5,000 users currently employ the R1 on a daily basis; meanwhile, his team has successfully rolled out 16 over-the-air updates for the R1 since its initial launch. As he sees it, the R1 is an interactive product, requiring startups to accept imperfection if they wish to engage in meaningful dialogue with users. “When launching a startup, we often advocate for shipping quickly and frequently,” he said.

Despite these challenges, efforts are being made to forge a new path forward. Throughout the works

Until this point, no one has managed to shift my perspective on the notion that AI infrastructure resembles a sprawling metropolis.

The iPod was a groundbreaking innovation that revolutionized the music industry during its prime. Despite my enthusiasm for that notion, I don’t think it’s sensible to hold onto a dedicated device just to play the music I own, when I can instead use the machine already in my pocket to play (almost) all the music on earth, regardless of whether I own it.

The same holds true for AI hardware today? Without smartphones, these handheld devices would hold immense allure, making me covetous despite their current shortcomings. Despite the proliferation of smartphones, it’s difficult to pinpoint a solitary reason why they cannot simply be regarded as advanced mobile applications.

Ray-Ban Meta Glasses, designed with a focus on enhancing POV video capture and unlocking future AI-driven possibilities, rather than solely relying on current AI capabilities.

I’m not willing to disagree with Ive and Altman, but nor do I wish to regret my investment choices.
