A BALANCED VIEW
What does it mean to be boosted?
The debate rages on among writers: Should we continue publishing on Medium? At every moment, there exist options. Substack consistently emerges as a viable alternative in the conversation. There are others like Patreon. In reality, writers are not confined to a single option. I publish on both Medium and Substack.
What’s particularly striking to me is the alarming frequency with which writers experience pessimism regarding their options on Medium, an issue that warrants greater scrutiny and potential solutions. It feels sudden and pronounced. My speculation on the dearth of religion within the promise of Medium stems from my personal experiences and knowledge.
Through a period of self-reflection, I found that while I hadn’t abandoned my faith entirely, I did need to engage in a thorough introspection, ultimately adjusting my understanding of its role in my life.
My speculation
Five years ago, I began writing on Medium because I craved connection with other writers. To further my skills, I required additional learning opportunities, drew inspiration from peers’ expertise, identified exceptional publications, and earned the esteem of their editorial teams.
As I lag behind in the competitive landscape, I’m reminded of my steady pace. I failed to capture the pace of my ideas effectively on Medium. If I had a mantra, it would likely be: “Consistency trumps flashiness – steady progress prevails.”
