The system currently interacts with DMV staff, and by July, the federal government will have developed custom client landing pages, including hero images similar to the one depicted below.

Once licensed, users of the Pockets app on their iPhones or Apple Watches can seamlessly present their digital IDs at participating locations simply by placing their device near an NFC contactless reader. At select TSA checkpoints in California, such as those at San Francisco and Los Angeles airports, passengers may be allowed to proceed through security screening without removing their shoes.

In Apple’s secure digital wallets, called Apple Wallet, identification information is safeguarded through advanced biometric authentication mechanisms. When agents require proof of identity, they typically demand specific personal details. Will my machine automatically switch to a lower data usage setting to verify eligibility?

When using an ID as proof of age to verify identity through an iPhone, the device simply confirms the owner’s age, without providing their exact birthdate. That’s significantly safer than a physical ID with a considerable amount of sensitive personal information simply printed on it.

The machine proprietor must explicitly authorise what information is shared during an interaction. Information is transmitted in an encrypted format, eliminating the need for the device to be decrypted or transferred to another party. The introduction date and location of the ID remain unknown to both Apple and the government, with records stored locally on devices without any centralized tracking.

While concerns about linking personal identity to a mobile device may initially cause apprehension, the system provides reassurance for those willing to adopt it, ultimately moving us closer to realizing Apple’s ambitious vision of replacing physical wallets altogether? Despite this, the digital ID options will likely require even broader acceptance before becoming a reality. You won’t be able to stop carrying a physical ID anytime soon.

Will a vibrant Apple Watch SE become the iPhone 5c of smartwatches?

What prompted the reported switch to a durable plastic casing?

The Apple Watch SE features an aluminum construction, mirroring the design aesthetic of its higher-end counterparts. Upon updating the Apple Watch SE in 2022, Apple revamped the case material, replacing ceramic with a nylon composite redesign.

According to the latest edition of Energy On, published by Bloomberg, Mark Gurman reports that the forthcoming Apple Watch SE may abandon its traditional aluminum casing in favour of a more rigid plastic material.

This could potentially reduce manufacturing costs, ultimately paving the way for a more affordable starting price point of $199.

A concern posed by my colleague Michael Burkhardt is whether Apple might opt to maintain the existing market value, potentially even incorporating the ECG feature, as seen in other watch models, as a distinctive selling point.

Could bold color options for the Apple Watch SE prove a major draw?

Due to aluminum’s inherent properties, its locations impose colouration limitations unlike those experienced by plastic. Apple might produce the Watch with a variety of colors, offering users more options to personalize their device.

Will bright and vibrant hues capture attention and convey the excitement of a brand-new model’s capabilities? To particularly boost adoption among young people.

When recalling Apple’s strategy, many will remember their earlier approach with the iPhone, which included offering it at an affordable price point through a range of “five gorgeous colors”: blue, green, pink, yellow, and white. Apple touted it as its most colourfully vivid iPhone to date.

Ultimately, the plastic iPhone’s lack of commercial success was evident, as Apple chose not to replicate the strategy in subsequent years; nonetheless, this concept could still be viable for future Apple Watch iterations.

In most cases, you can perform a wide range of tasks on your phone using iPhone Mirroring, as if you were holding the device itself – from running apps to checking widgets and reviewing unsynced photos or notes stored locally on your device. If you’ve previously locked or hidden any apps, you’ll be prompted to enter your macOS password or utilise the Mac’s Touch ID sensor for authentication, rather than relying on Face ID or Touch ID on your phone.

Some limitations do apply. Certain applications that rely on physical phone movement, such as step tracking and gaming controllers, will be impaired due to their dependence on accelerometer data. The device’s orientation will automatically adjust when launching an app requiring a horizontal layout; however, there is no control to switch seamlessly between portrait and landscape modes while connected to an iPhone.

Unfortunately, the digital camera fails to turn on, rendering it unusable for monitoring pets in adjacent rooms or making video calls via FaceTime. When enabled through Apple’s Continuity framework, FaceTime Audio calls can seamlessly transition from your iPhone to your Mac.

To move the window to a different location on your screen, simply grab the topmost edge of the window and drag it where you want. Or, use the Transfer & Resize choices within the Window menu to place it in sections resembling the proper edge or high left nook. To adjust the size of your iPhone display, navigate to the menu bar and choose between expanding (Command-+) or contracting (Command–) the window; alternatively, use Command-0 to reset it to its original dimensions.

Deal with iPhone notifications

Notifications often accumulate on multiple devices due to sharing an Apple account? Notifications sent from the Messages app will appear synchronously on both your iPhone and Mac unless you configure one device to mute notifications. What’s missing are notifications for apps that exist solely within the iPhone ecosystem.

When energy-saving features are activated, these alerts appear prominently in the top-right corner of the Mac screen alongside other notifications. You can distinguish the iPhone-specific apps by their distinctive iPhone badge. Because the Mac is aware of the location it came from, tapping an alert opens the corresponding app on the iPhone via the iPhone Mirroring app. (Sorry, you won’t be able to claim you didn’t receive a notification because your phone was out of sight.)

By year’s end, this feature will likely prove to be the crown jewel of iPhone Mirroring capabilities. You can easily transfer files between your iPhone and Mac by simply dragging them from one window to the other, allowing for seamless sharing of data. I’d rather not attend the pictures to sync photos through iCloud or utilize an intermediary like Dropbox or iCloud Drive? 

To complete iPhone mirroring, ensure your devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. On your iPhone or iPad, navigate to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Trust All Devices. Now, go to the Control Center and select “Screen Mirroring” then choose your device’s name from the list.

There is currently no built-in option within the iPhone’s Mirroring app to sever the phone connection, except for closing the application entirely. To terminate the call unexpectedly, simply locate your nearby iPhone and promptly lock it. 

Does the phone’s screen light up when in use? Click the lock icon on your phone and then select “Attempt Once More” to re-establish mirroring.

As a consequence, the discovery of exploitable non-renderer use-after-free vulnerabilities in Chrome increased, accompanied by a reduction in reward amounts for UAFs protected by MiraclePtr. While code and data protected by MiraclePtr were designed to resist exploitation of non-renderer use-after-free (UAF) vulnerabilities, the Chrome Vulnerability Reward Program’s launch aimed to encourage research into identifying potential bypasses of these safeguards.

The Chrome Vulnerability Rewards Program (VRP) also introduced a new incentive, offering triple the standard maximum reward amount for the first reported Chrome full-chain exploit and doubling the standard maximum reward amount for subsequent submissions. As the significant opportunities remain unexplored, we are deliberately keeping the doors open in 2024 for innovative researchers willing to take on these pressing challenges.

By mid-2023, Google’s Chrome Vulnerability Rewards Program (VRP) introduced a new incentive structure for reporting V8 bugs in legacy Chrome channels, offering enhanced rewards for issues affecting older builds, with a special bonus for vulnerabilities discovered prior to the M105 milestone. The bug bounty program’s success was marked by numerous high-impact stories of longstanding V8 issues, alongside a report of a V8 JIT optimization bug in Chrome dating back to at least version M91, prompting a $30,000 reward for the diligent researcher.

In recognition of their efforts, the total payout reached $2.1 million, acknowledging 359 unique submissions detailing Chrome Browser security vulnerabilities.
