Our brand-new cohort of AWS Heroes has arrived – June 2024

The vibrant and diverse Amazon Web Services (AWS) community comprises millions of skilled professionals globally. Within the global community of tech enthusiasts, there exist dedicated individuals who consistently push beyond the norm to troubleshoot complex problems and liberally disseminate their findings and expertise, fostering a culture of collective empowerment. The AWS Heroes program is a way for us to recognize and celebrate the remarkable achievements of these inspirational leaders who are making a profound impact in their respective communities.

Arshad Zakeria, a resident of Wellington, New Zealand.

As a Senior Engineer at Xero, Group Hero leverages his expertise to enable organisations to deliver high-quality software at an accelerated pace. As a respected figure in the local community, Zack is widely recognized by his peers for his extensive expertise, which focuses predominantly on Amazon EKS and various developer tools. As an accomplished public speaker, Zack additionally plays a key role as a co-organizer and leader within the AWS Professional Group’s Wellington Chapter in Aotearoa New Zealand. Additionally, he served as an Amazon Web Services (AWS) New Voices Coach, while also being an AWS Group Builder for five consecutive years, earning recognition as a nominee for the AWS Group Builder of the Year award in both 2022 and 2023, specifically in the Asia Pacific and Japan region.

As a World Technologist in Veeam Software’s Product Technique group, Container Hero holds the position of Workplace of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). With a passion for diversity and equity, she is committed to demystifying Cloud Native technologies and DevOps best practices, making them more accessible through knowledge sharing. Julia stands out for her exceptional ability to promote and develop engaging content focused on Amazon EKS, as well as delivering keynote presentations at prominent events on the topics of Amazon EKS Blueprints and Amazon EKS security measures. Furthermore, she co-leads the AWS Group Day New York, Kubernetes Group Days, and the AWS People Group Lisbon’s Ladies in Tech chapter, cultivating dynamic partnerships and exploring innovative solutions through inclusive dialogue.

Paloma Lataliza – a vibrant artist from Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

As a seasoned Cloud Engineer with more than six years of experience. With a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, she specializes in Cloud Computing, showcasing her passion for container technologies and dedication to knowledge-sharing through innovative tech exploration. As the driving force behind the AWS Person Group Minas Gerais, Paloma spearheads initiatives that empower women by fostering a nurturing environment and offering complimentary educational resources, thereby making technology more inclusive. As the founder of the AWSome Ladies Group Summit Brazil and the visionary behind Mulheres na Nuvem Minas Gerais (Ladies in the Cloud Minas Gerais), she brings her passion for empowering women to the forefront. Prior to this role, she functioned as an AWS Group Builder, crafting technical content, presenting at prominent Cloud and DevOps conferences, and guiding individuals eager to expand their technical proficiency.

Shaoyi Li – Shenzhen, China

As a lead cloud engineer, Group Hero spearheads innovative solutions at the intersection of cybersecurity and generative AI, driving initiatives that ensure secure, regulatory-compliant, and transparent development of generative AI applications. As a highly sought-after speaker, he regularly takes the stage at premier AWS events, including AWS Summits, AWS Group Days, and AWS People Group Meetups. Through various platforms, including AWS case studies, blogs, WeChat channels, and social media, Shaoyi openly shares his expertise in AWS technologies, making valuable insights accessible to a wide audience.

Vishal Alhat – Pune, India

As a seasoned Senior Software Program Engineer at Forcepoint, a leading cybersecurity company, Group Hero utilizes his extensive 9-plus-year background to drive critical contributions in cloud-based implementations. He specializes in cloud security and DevOps expertise for AWS, leveraging tools, services, and best practices to streamline deployments and maintain uniformity across Forcepoint’s cloud architecture? Vishal’s passion for sharing knowledge earned him the esteemed title of AWS Group Builder of the Year for the APJ region, a testament to his unwavering commitment and dedication. As the Chief of AWS Person Group in Pune, he is a prominent speaker at global events such as conferences, meetups, AWS Group Days, and AWS Summits.
