A Dutch startup has received a substantial €350,000 investment from UNIIQ, a dedicated proof-of-concept funding entity designed to foster innovation and growth. The funding will enable Spatialise to further develop its AI-powered soil health monitoring platform, leveraging satellite data and artificial intelligence to assess the nutrient content of farm-topsoils.
According to Soufiane el Khinifri, Spatialise meets the agricultural sector’s growing demand for environmentally friendly and accurate soil assessment. The platform provides valuable insights into crucial soil components.
“” says Soufiane.
These findings enable farmers to strategically manage fertilizers, thereby decreasing greenhouse gas emissions and costs, while simultaneously promoting ecosystem recovery and tracking the carbon impact of entire food systems.
Noting the uncertainty surrounding funding, Soufiane stated, “Unfortunately, there are still many unanswered questions about our financial situation.”
Established with an initial investment of €50 million, UNIIQ brings together InnovationQuarter, Leiden University College, Erasmus Medical Centre, and Delft University of Technology to spearhead the development of innovative concepts from proof-of-concept stage onwards.
Jasper Geselschap, Fund Supervisor at InnovationQuarter’s UNIIQ, underscored the profound impact of Spatialise’s platform, stating that “
With this funding, Spatialise aims to enhance its platform’s capabilities, increasing global accessibility for farmers to adopt regenerative agriculture practices.
