As the final week came to a close, Swisscom Broadcast chose Nokia to spearhead the deployment of a nationwide drones-as-a-service network across Switzerland. By deploying 300 Drone-in-Field assets, businesses aim to enhance emergency responses, secure perimeters, and inspect infrastructure, thereby supporting public safety personnel in their mission to ensure protection. 

According to Nokia, optimizing valuable resources can significantly help save countless lives in the aftermath of incidents. Emergency situations are rapidly assessed by drones, which quickly gather relevant data within the initial minutes, thereby significantly improving first responders’ situational awareness and enabling them to make more informed decisions.

The Nokia Drone Community has partnered with Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) to deploy a fleet of drones across Switzerland, providing real-time information and services to passengers.

Nokia has announced that it is counting on the successful deployment of its 5G technology across all regions of Switzerland. The businesses intend to collaborate closely with regulatory authorities to ensure that all operations conform to the relevant spectrum and aviation security standards.

Nokia also provides drone management services.

Public safety agencies can tap into drone networks as needed.

Swiss public safety organizations are set to gain access to Nokia’s national drone network in Switzerland, allowing them to request and commission drone flights, similar to a ride-hailing service, through a collaboration with Swisscom Broadcast. Their role will be to assist clients by leveraging their specialized skills and providing insightful evaluations of the gathered information.

The drones are capable of inspecting tall or inaccessible infrastructure, thereby eliminating the need for personnel to venture into potentially hazardous zones, according to their partners.
