Meta has discovered and addressed errors in its algorithms to accurately award moderation points for Threads.

Meta is set to address concerns surrounding the enforcement of guidelines on Threads, a feature that has been plagued by issues regarding content moderation, following an onslaught of complaints from users and criticism over its handling of the situation. When addressing concerns at the platform’s core, Threads CEO Adam Mosseri revealed that the company has proactively implemented adjustments to address emerging issues.

As controversy surrounding Threads’ moderation practices grows, Mosseri’s comments aim to soothe concerns from increasingly vocal users who perceive the platform’s decisions as both aggressive and unconventional. Customers reported their accounts penalized for using “cracker” or “saltines.” While Mosseri didn’t specify why these errors occurred, he noted that an internal tool, called ” “, hindered human reviewers from viewing sufficient context about the posts they were moderating, leading to inaccurate penalties.

“We’ve taken a close look at the concerns surrounding enforcement points that some of our users have raised, and we’re pleased to report that we’ve already identified errors and implemented changes as a result.” While our individual reviewers have been conducting calls, they have failed to receive crucial context on conversation performance, resulting in missed opportunities. By streamlining our processes, we’re empowering them to take on more significant decision-making responsibilities while minimizing the risk of mistakes. To provide a safer experience, we must strive for excellence.

Users of the Threads platform have been frustrated by more than just content moderation issues over recent times. This week, Instagram head Adam Mosseri reaffirmed his commitment to addressing concerns surrounding Threads, announcing plans to regain control over the feature’s development and functionality after receiving widespread criticism.
