LimX legged robots march on
In the final 12 months, robotics company LimX showcased a remarkable breakthrough, with their wheeled quadruped successfully standing on two legs. The corporation is one of several major builders leveraging NVIDIA’s Isaac SIM to harness the power of simulation and reinforcement learning for optimizing robotic operations.
Diverse robotics entities that have explored the fusion of wheels and limbs include Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotarium, Stanford’s Autonomous Systems Lab, ETH Zurich’s Robotics Institute, and MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. By mid-2024, a consortium of Chinese language organizations will likely collaborate to develop guidelines for integrating robots and humanoids, a move widely viewed as a potential catalyst for economic growth.
By August 2024, LimX has successfully developed and deployed its CL-1 humanoid robotic system designed to efficiently load heavy objects consistently. This demonstration showcased its capacity for real-time, perceptive locomotion, manipulation, and whole-body control. The CL-1 robotic system demonstrated the ability to adopt various postures, lift and unload payloads, and adapt to external perturbations through real-time adjustments.
The TRON 1, a bipedal robot developed by LimX, has recently been unveiled and is now available for pre-order with a price tag of $15,000. The adjustable platform offers a range of configurations, including modular point, flat, and wheeled options. This AI-powered system is designed to accelerate advancements in humanoid robotics by providing real-time insights and data-driven solutions.
The TRON 1 offers pre-integrated algorithms, ensuring seamless remote control capabilities and features an open Software Development Kit (SDK), as well as a hardware interface designed to facilitate software innovation. Funding nonetheless flowing to humanoids
In July 2024, LimX, also referred to as Zhuji Dynamics, secured an undisclosed amount of funding from Collection A investors. According to Crunchbase, the company has secured $27.5 million in funding thus far. Prior investors in this venture include Alibaba Group, Shuangji Capital, and Lenovo Capital.
According to Tracxn, LimX secured the sixth spot in overall funding among humanoid builders, with a total of $754 million, trailing behind five other companies that received $1,180 million, $155 million, $117 million, and $32.8 million, respectively.
A year ago, 1X Technologies had a portfolio of $100 million, known as Collection B. Just this week, Samsung Electronics Co. The company was acquired by Rainbow Robotics for a staggering $181.6 million.
