JetBrains has announced the release of its 2024.2 updates for its family of IntelliJ-based integrated development environments (IDEs) and its Jetbrains AI Assistant toolset. The latest updates introduce a revamped, user-friendly interface to the integrated development environments (IDEs), along with enhanced code completion features and seamless integration with the JetBrains AI Assistant for more informed coding experiences. JetBrains announced its 2024.2 updates on August 6th.
JetBrains’ AI Assistant 2024.2 delivers faster and more intelligent code completion for Kotlin, Python, and Swift, leveraged by the company’s internally developed Large Language Models (LLMs). JetBrains has announced that help for various languages is on its way, with the promise of a forthcoming release. The AI assistant’s chat capabilities have been enhanced, thanks in part to assistance and contextual references that provide a deeper understanding of the conversation, according to the company. New capabilities are embodied in an integrated terminal-based version control system (VCS), enabling model management and battle-ready decision-making, as well as customizable prompts for unit assessments and comprehensive documentation.
The JetBrains family of Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) has adopted a newly designed User Interface as the default setting for all users. The revamped interface streamlines complexity, providing intuitive access to key features and gradually revealing advanced capabilities upon demand. The JetBrains’ basic UI remains accessible as a plugin. Now, the Search All Over the Place dialog enables developers to preview individual codebase components during the search process. The JetBrains IDEs now automatically detect and utilize proxy settings configured on a developer’s machine by default.
