Qualcomm is making a concerted effort to showcase its flagship chip offerings to major players in the industry this year. The technology firm acquired Nuvia, a startup founded by former Apple executives, in 2021. The NuVia workforce collaborated on the development of the Orion CPU core, a cutting-edge, custom-designed core capable of delivering enhanced power efficiency and performance. The successor to Snapdragon will likely undergo a branding refresh to mirror this transformation, with Qualcomm possibly holding a naming convention for its next-generation premium Android smartphone processor. Posted an image of its fingers on a promotional poster for the Xiaomi 13 series, claiming it showcases the device’s rumored feature: a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Elite processor. Qualcomm previously announced plans to unveil its latest processor in October, with Xiaomi poised to be the first company to integrate the chip into one of its smartphones.

Given the reason that is driven by innovation, it is safe to speculate that the next-generation model will boast a cutting-edge Snapdragon processor, elevating its performance and capabilities even further. So, it appears to be the chip previously referred to as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 has indeed been officially named the Snapdragon Elite.

The forthcoming naming convention is expected to harmonize with the debut of Qualcomm’s cutting-edge Orion-based PC processors introduced this year.

The self-designed Orion cores are engineered to yield higher peak efficiencies and enhanced energy effectiveness at your fingertips.

According to benchmarks, the Snapdragon Elite processor surpasses the A18 Professional chip’s performance in multi-core testing, while nearly matching its single-core efficiency.

Like its counterpart in PCs, the Snapdragon Elite for smartphones is expected to incorporate substantial artificial intelligence processing capabilities, enabling it to seamlessly navigate even the most graphically intensive mobile games.
