The iPad mini 7 can also be restored wirelessly from another iOS device.

As we previously reported, you can now easily mirror your iPhone’s screen to another iPhone or iPad. Now it has been revealed that Apple may also leverage this approach with its recently unveiled products.

The iPad mini 7 uses a Wi-Fi restoration system similar to that of the iPhone 13.

The iPadOS 18 firmware for the device is comprised of the same RecoveryOS partition appended to its existing structure. If you need to enter Restoration Mode on your device, simply place it next to another device with USB-C connection or plug it into a computer to initiate the firmware restore process.

Though the sole option for restoring a bricked device is often wireless recovery from another device, iPhones or iPads running iOS 12 or later can alternatively be used to revive a bricked gadget. This restoration system was established in 2010, with a mission to provide support to those affected by natural disasters and other crises.

It appears that Apple resumed work on this software in 2020.

Uncertainty surrounded the inclusion of the RecoveryOS partition with the A18 chip, but it’s since been confirmed that it’s not part of the package. Although it seems clear that the partition is pre-installed on devices before they’re shipped from the manufacturer, this means the new system is not available for other devices.

It’s worth noting that this device comes with iPadOS 18.0 installed out of the box. Apple is set to unveil iPadOS 18.1, a major update to its tablet operating system, later this week, marking the next step forward in its pursuit of seamless integration and AI-driven innovation.

What’s all the fuss about with Apple’s latest tablet release?

This device features an A17 Professional processor paired with 8GB of RAM, as well as enhanced wireless capabilities through Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 technologies, enabling faster and more reliable connections. The USB-C port has been upgraded to support USB 3.1, enabling data transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbps, a significant increase from the previous model’s maximum speed of 5 Gbps.

Pre-orders for the device are currently available on Apple’s website.
