iFixit has expanded its offerings to include official Xbox replacement parts.

As part of its agreement with Microsoft, iFixit has started promoting genuine Xbox components and offering repair guides, in response to the changes they’ve noticed. The Xbox Series S and X collections offer comprehensive upgrade packages for their digital and disc drive formats, including components such as power supplies, motherboards, toolkits, and thermal paste, ideal for tinkerers and enthusiasts seeking to customize or repair their gaming systems.

iFixit formed a strategic partnership with Microsoft in 2023, launching a program that provides original replacement parts for Microsoft Surface laptops. The platform also provided disassembly tutorials and detailed, step-by-step instructions to help streamline complex repair processes.

The tutorials replicate their Xbox counterpart, providing step-by-step instructions on replacing motherboard components for each console, accompanied by a comprehensive list of necessary parts and tools. Restoring a motherboard, for instance, necessitates a meticulous 29-step process just for setup, not to mention additional procedures required to reassemble the entire system. Notwithstanding this, the corporation has yet to release a single movie, in stark contrast to its prolific output of floor units.

iFixit has established partnerships with various tech companies to supply replacement parts for and . Additionally, it collaborates with Logitech to provide repair components for two of its products. The sole exception is Apple, whose iPhone 16 recently received an from iFixit after the earlier model was criticized due to software-restricted “parts pairing” requirements. In its final month, the company deemed the product decently repairable, yet failed to integrate any innovative features compatible with Sony’s consoles.
