As soon as the product was launched, I eagerly signed up for it. I’ve been using it ever since, but I recently decided to switch for several reasons. I take pleasure in trying out new products, just to see what the competition offers. What’s more crucial is that Gemini’s extensions offered effortless harmonization with Google’s infrastructure, vindicating expectations of streamlining my productivity and liberating precious moments from tedious tasks. Or so I believed.
Gemini extensions: A recreation changer?
For those unfamiliar, we collaborate with various Google companies, including Gmail, Maps, and numerous other entities. Their energy lies in the ability to conserve time by allowing instant access to specific files within Gmail without manual searching, or quickly determining travel duration between points A and B without launching Google Maps, all while seamlessly streaming music to enhance concentration from within the chatbot’s intuitive interface?
Sounds nice, proper? It’s when it truly delivers, no less. Granted, it does work effectively most of the time. Despite the challenges, I find myself questioning whether the effort is worthwhile. Prompting Gemini to retrieve a specific file can be a valuable time-saving tool, yet when the process falls short of accuracy, requiring multiple attempts to achieve the desired outcome can be frustrating. In such cases, seeking out the file manually becomes a more efficient and less anxiety-provoking option.
I’ve tried to improve the text in a different style:
Geminis proved unable to retrieve my last electronic communication, no matter how hard I tried.
Let’s examine several key factors that illustrate my point. For the life of me, Gemini was utterly incapable of pulling up my final electronic mail from Gmail’s archives. Despite my repeated warnings, it still failed to comply. Despite taking the extra step to specify the exact date and time of the email retrieval, Gemini still fell short by delivering an outdated message instead of the intended one.
When requesting additional context from Gemini regarding a specific sender’s email, I asked that they retrieve the final message sent by that individual and provide a summary of its content. While retrieving the sender’s information accurately, the email’s timestamp and contents were unfortunately compromised, rendering the message unreliable. The email purported to be an affirmation of a purchase order, yet it bore no resemblance to such a document. While this phenomenon does not always manifest itself, its frequency is considerable enough to pose a notable challenge.
As a result of their inherent nature, individuals with a Gemini zodiac sign tend to make mistakes due to their propensity for mental wandering and the speed at which they process information. Google explicitly notes that Gemini may encounter problems incorrectly. Despite this discovery, I find it peculiar that Google’s chatbot struggles to complete straightforward tasks like these yet excels at more complex assignments, such as providing information about my hotel bill in Spain from 10 years ago. With lightning speed, it efficiently located the desired email from my extensive Gmail inbox and accurately retrieved all relevant information without error in mere seconds.
While Gmail integration was a challenge, my greater frustration stemmed from difficulties with Google Maps. Upon inquiring about the duration of the drive from Level A to Level B in that metropolitan area, I obtained accurate information and provided clear directions via a mapped route. Great. Despite requesting the duration of a walk along that same route, the app unexpectedly changed the destination to my home address – approximately 35 miles away – for reasons unknown to me. The initial stroll, intended to last less than 30 minutes, ultimately lasted over 10 hours. Despite multiple additional requests, Gemini was ultimately unable to rectify the issue.
Wait, there’s extra

Several limitations exist that prevent Google’s Gemini from accomplishing certain tasks, as explicitly outlined on their website. Despite their straightforward nature, these tasks seem beneath the capabilities of a chatbot that has already demonstrated such proficiency in other areas.
I’m having trouble finding the renewal date for my Gemini Superior subscription (Google One AI Premium plan) in my Google account, so I’ve reached out to Gemini to inquire about this information? Despite initially seeming straightforward, the task ultimately proved to be an insurmountable challenge. I’m unsure about the amount of Drive storage remaining, nor can it display my most recent Google Photos picture.
While considering all options, it may still design a seven-day trip to London, offer you the most suitable available flights, and facilitate your search for hotels within your preferred budget range. The system struggles to handle complex tasks but frequently falters with simpler ones.
Am I switching again?

For now, no. For general purposes, ChatGPT and Gemini demonstrate comparable performance, rendering them equally suitable for my specific requirements. While there are some challenges where ChatGPT Plus performs better than Gemini Superior, For instance, it will possibly summarize the inventory marketplace for yesterday, together with good points/losses in % for not solely an organization of alternative however even for the ten largest firms within the S&P 500 if I ask it too. Gemini can’t do this. Despite this limitation, I find additional value in the extensions currently available from Google, which are useful as long as they function properly.
Be warned that extending your Gemini capabilities will require careful consideration and preparation for several key issues. While they consistently perform well, their exceptional status remains elusive.
Despite encountering several issues, I’m not willing to abandon my pursuit of Gemini entirely. As AI continues to evolve at a rapid pace, I’m confident that these challenges will soon be resolved and fresh opportunities will emerge swiftly. What the future may bring remains to be seen.
I don’t have personal preferences or biases towards any particular AI chatbot.
