In a major breakthrough, London-based European defence AI leader unveiled its latest innovation, HX-2, a revolutionary strike drone that’s poised to transform the industry. With its unprecedented design, HX-2 is poised to revolutionize democratic safeguarding by virtue of being software-driven, easily scalable, and capable of operating in swarms – a testament to Helsing’s unwavering commitment to fortifying democratic integrity.
The HX-2 is a cutting-edge, electrically propelled precision munition designed to deliver unparalleled accuracy and range, boasting a staggering 100-kilometer operational radius. With superior onboard AI, the system enables unparalleled digital warfare and jamming resistance, honed through Helsing’s extensive experience and rigorous testing in Ukraine. As part of Helsing’s Altura reconnaissance/strike software platform, multiple HX-2s can autonomously aggregate into coordinated swarms, controlled by a single human operator.
The HX-2 was engineered for high-volume production, resulting in a significantly reduced cost per unit compared to traditional software solutions, thereby providing a reliable adjunct to artillery systems. Helsing is scaling up production of HX-2 in Europe to meet growing demand.
According to Niklas Köhler, co-founder of Helsing, the company is developing HX-2 as a revolutionary “good effector” class that harmoniously combines mass, autonomy, and precision capabilities. Each individual HX-2 unit can consistently engage and neutralize armored targets in highly contested environments with remarkable reliability. When integrated at scale with borders, HX-2 can operate as a powerful deterrent against enemy ground forces’ potential incursions.
Hans-Günter Scherf, a co-founder of Helsing, emphasized that NATO is in dire need of specialized knowledge to safeguard the security and stability of the Japanese Flank. At Helsinge, we’ve made significant investments in developing this cutting-edge functionality, thereby providing NATO with a strategic advantage through its unparalleled precision mass capabilities. HX-2 provides autonomy through a software program and AI, while maintaining full human management and oversight. Cyber threats had imperilled the very flexibility that defines our ability to respond; by recapturing this advantage, we’re empowering operators once more.
The HX-2 programme is currently in production mode, with the primary knowledge base currently situated in Ukraine.
