While over 97% of respondents to GitHub’s survey reported using AI coding tools in the workplace, a notable disparity emerged as only 38% of US-based developers revealed that their organizations actively encouraged such adoption. The survey report was officially released to the public on August 20.
Among the four countries profiled – the United States, Brazil, Germany, and India – it was only in America that a shortage of entities promoting the adoption of such initiatives was observed. The survey garnered feedback from a diverse pool of 2,000 non-student, enterprise professionals, with an equal representation of 500 participants from each nation. A significant proportion of our survey’s participants has consisted of builders, engineers, and computer programming professionals.
Across all markets, a significant majority of respondents reported that their companies either actively encouraged or permitted the use of AI coding tools, with 59-88% of respondents citing such practices. As software development teams continue to explore the capabilities of AI coding tools, they are uncovering even more benefits than initially anticipated, according to a recent report. The majority of survey participants indicated a significant improvement in code quality upon using AI-powered coding tools. A substantial 61% of German and 73% of US respondents expressed optimism regarding the ability of AI coding tools to significantly enhance or reasonably improve their capacity to meet customer demands effectively.
