Flynow’s game-changing autonomous eVTOLs to make a splash at Expo 2030 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Plans are underway to deploy thousands of computerized electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, or eVTOLs, at the Expo 2030 event in Riyadh, with operations scheduled to commence on October 1, 2030, and conclude on March 31, 2031. To further support this endeavour, Flynow is establishing a regional hub and production facility in Saudi Arabia, serving both domestic customers’ needs and global exports through local meeting points. The Chief Working Officer, Yvonne Winter, has announced that the Saudi office is likely to open within a few months.

The eVTOL aircraft are powered by batteries and designed to transport either one or two people or goods, boasting a maximum payload capacity of 200 kilograms and a takeoff weight of 570 kilograms. These autonomous helicopters operate independently along predetermined paths, mirroring the self-sustaining systems found in traditional cable transportation systems. By drawing inspiration from NASA’s Mars Helicopter ‘Ingenuity,’ Flynow’s innovative design leverages the benefits of coaxial rotors, ensuring a high degree of stability and redundancy that can effectively mitigate the risks associated with motor failure.

Sensors empower eCopters to anticipate and proactively avoid potential collisions by temporarily halting and restarting flight operations when necessary. The cabin’s secure placement beneath the rotors further reinforces flight stability.

Flynow began testing its cargo variant solutions at Salzburg Airport during the summer of 2023, achieving a significant milestone in harmonizing mechanical, electrical, acoustic, and systemic components.

Flynow’s partnership with Bayanat, launched in April 2024, aims to pioneer the introduction of urban air mobility solutions in the United Arab Emirates. The collaboration harnesses cutting-edge AI-driven geospatial insights to bolster the efficiency and impact of Flynow’s innovative eCopter operations.

of Saudi Arabia Holding Co. Shared insights on LinkedIn, highlighting the cutting-edge features and diverse applications of eVTOL aircraft. Preliminary measures aim to streamline licensing procedures for cargo transportation, minimizing the risk of accidents, while also ensuring compliance with regulations for passenger transport.

The launch at Expo 2030 marks the beginning of an ambitious vision to significantly expand the eCopters’ capabilities, transforming them from occasional transport vehicles for event attendees into versatile assets that can serve seafaring communities by providing essential services to container ships, as well as accessing remote locations and areas.
