In 2018, two teenage boys swimming off Australia’s coast faced a desperate struggle to reach shore again when they were dramatically rescued by a drone that deployed a self-inflating life raft into the water. This pioneering mission marked the world’s first successful rescue of swimmers by an unmanned aircraft.
