EASA Approves ETSO Certification Foundation for Veronte Autopilot – sUAS Information – The Enterprise of Drones

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has granted certification to the Veronte Autopilot’s certification foundation, designating it as the principal autopilot and flight management system for unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOL), thereby conforming to ETSO-C198 standards.

Since its inception, the company has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to reliability and certification, showcasing its unwavering dedication to upholding the highest standards. Following rigorous compliance with aviation regulations, the Spanish company has successfully achieved ISO 9001 and EN 9100 certifications, marking a significant milestone by obtaining ETSO authorisation from EASA for its product. This miniaturized flight management system is engineered to deliver exceptional control over both manned electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL)/vertical conversion aircraft (VCA) and unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has officially verified and accepted the Certification Programme and Article Technical Specification, laying the groundwork for the Veronte Autopilot’s certification under the framework of ETSO-C198, “Automated Flight Steerage and Management Programs” – a critical step towards achieving ETSO certification.

The certification of this autonomous system as an airworthiness-certifiable component ensures conformity to stringent manned aviation standards, thereby streamlining the certification process for both manned and unmanned aerial vehicles. The specified conformity parameters are vital for the functionality of unmanned aerial vehicles operating within the Licensed Category, as defined by Regulation (EU) 2019/947, particularly those carrying human passengers via vertical takeoff and landing technology.

The system also enables the setup of the Veronte Autopilot in already licensed manned planes, in compliance with Regulation (EU) 748/2012 and its Annex, commonly referred to as Part 21.

“This milestone marks an unparalleled breakthrough in Embention’s journey to obtain certification for its Veronte Autopilot under the rigorous ETSO-C198 guidelines, with EASA recognition serving as a testament to our commitment to excellence.” This move cements our commitment to pioneering technology and ensuring the safety of drone operations, ultimately paving the way for a future where these aerial systems enrich our urban landscapes.

On the same timeline, this milestone solidifies Embention’s position as a pioneer and leader in certifying critical technologies for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft. By taking another crucial stride towards mainstreaming and legitimizing the operation of such aircraft, akin to urban air mobility, alongside air taxi services and conventional cargo transportation.

Established leader in pioneering cutting-edge management solutions for self-driving vehicles, boasting a rich 16-year history of innovation. Embention offers reliable autopilot solutions, motor control systems, and avionic components for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
