Copenhagen’s Infinite Meals Co. scores €1m to revolutionize the chocolate industry with eco-friendly innovations.

THIC has secured €1 million in pre-seed funding to drive innovation in its range of modern chocolates, aimed at addressing sustainability and supply chain concerns in the industry.

Nordic Foodtech VC spearheaded the funding round, joined by EIFO and Rockstart, which will enable the company to upscale manufacturing capabilities, establish a pilot plant, and nurture its workforce.

Infinite Meals Co’s THIC innovation leverages ‘upcycled’ brewer’s spent grain, a significant byproduct of beer brewing, transforming it into a sustainable, cost-efficient alternative to traditional chocolate. Unlike cacao, which confronts growing difficulties stemming from climate shifts, THIC emerges as a sustainable solution that diminishes dependence on cacao and tackles the ecological and ethical concerns plaguing the chocolate industry.

“Infinite Meals’ mission to revolutionize the way we eat is a passion project that drives me every day,” says Sarah Lee, Co-founder and CEO of Infinite Meals Co. “”

Founded in 2022 by Maximillian Bogenmann, Christian Bach, and Matt Orlando, Infinite Meals Co combines the culinary expertise of its founders, drawing inspiration from renowned establishments like Noma and The Fat Duck. Here is the rewritten text:

The corporation’s innovative approach to upcycling showcases how sustainability and indulgence can harmoniously coexist, effectively addressing the pressing challenges facing the chocolate industry.

Infinite Meals Co has also forged a crucial industrial alliance with 7-Eleven Denmark to bring its innovative products to the market. The partnership will initially feature a range of THIC-based products, including a co-branded cookie with TIM’s Cookies, available at all 180 Danish 7-Eleven stores by year-end.

As CEO of 7-Eleven Denmark, he expressed unbridled enthusiasm for the strategic alliance.

As the global chocolate market feels the strain of rising cacao prices, which have more than doubled in the past year due to climate-related disruptions throughout the supply chain, Infinite Meals Co is poised to capitalize on this shift with its innovative approach to sustainable cocoa sourcing and production. Furthermore, the sector grapples with pressing moral and environmental concerns, including rampant deforestation, alarming biodiversity loss, and egregious labour exploitation, all of which threaten the very foundation of sustainability.

THIC introduces a revolutionary solution that replicates traditional chocolate’s familiar taste and texture while significantly reducing its environmental footprint by up to 80-90%, according to a recent life cycle assessment.
