Cloudian Companions with Lenovo to Unveil EPYC-Powered HyperStore, an All-Flash Storage Solution?

Cloudian and Lenovo have collaborated to develop a cutting-edge HyperStore cluster optimized for handling massive volumes of data, AI, and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads.

Each HyperStore cluster will likely comprise six ThinkSystem SR635 V3 servers, each equipped with EPYC 9454P processors and flash drives. The cluster will come pre-loaded with Amazon’s S3-compatible object storage system.

The combination of AMD processors and all-flash storage enables the HyperStore cluster to process data at speeds of up to 28.7 GB/s for reading and 18.4 GB/s for writing. According to Cloudian, a study reveals that an all-flash configuration reduces energy consumption by 74% compared to an equivalent HDD setup.

Cloudian’s HyperStore enables its role as an information lake by powering next-generation AI and advanced analytics workloads on top of distributed architectures like PyTorch, TensorFlow, Apache Kafka, and Druid across industries such as media, finance, and life sciences.

According to Cloudian’s Chief Executive Officer and co-founder Michael Tso, Lenovo’s EPYC-based processors offer a seamless synergy with Cloudian’s high-performance data management platform software.

“By providing a foundation that is infinitely scalable, high-performing, and environmentally sustainable, they enable AI and data analytics workloads to thrive,” Tso said in a statement. “For companies looking to revolutionize their innovation, accelerate data-driven insights, or unlock the power of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and high-performance computing, this decision holds the key to a game-changing transformation.”

Lenovo’s normal supervisor, Stuart McRae, asserts that the combination of its all-flash EPYC servers with Cloudian’s software enables the handling of even the most demanding artificial intelligence (AI) and analytics workloads seamlessly? “This strategic collaboration enables us to provide clients with a forward-thinking, flexible, and secure infrastructure, empowering them to accelerate their AI projects and foster groundbreaking innovation,” McRae explains in the company’s official statement.

Cloudian, a provider with over 800 customers, claims that its HyperStore solution features military-grade security and an “object lock” capability designed to prevent data tampering and ensure ransomware protection.
