With nearly three decades of experience in technology communications and branding, Jess emerges as a pioneering storyteller and visionary leader. Jess not too long ago joined the Cloudera workforce after a number of years at Rocket Software program and ASG Applied sciences, the place she led inside and exterior communication methods with a concentrate on PR initiatives, thought management, M&A communications, and govt communications. Throughout my professional journey, I’ve consistently found myself gravitating toward tech corporations.

I began my career at a leading Promotions and Public Relations firm, collaborating with clients spanning from retail and manufacturing to technology companies. While my initial trajectory didn’t gain momentum until I shifted into a communications role at a prominent software company in Silicon Valley, it was this turning point that truly propelled me forward. It was here that I found myself enthralled by the swift tempo and the constantly shifting landscape of innovation. Significant advancements have occurred over the past year in the realms of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and the metaverse. To excel in tech communications, it’s essential to possess the capacity to adapt seamlessly to ongoing advancements and enhancements – a vital quality that’s both necessary and exhilarating. I am thrilled to join the Cloudera team, driven by the company’s unwavering commitment to innovative solutions that empower customers to overcome their most pressing AI and data hurdles.

The ability to understand and navigate the complexities of diverse stakeholder groups is an often-overlooked yet valuable asset in the realm of communications. Through that talent, I’ve been able to bring creative ideas to life and craft innovative solutions to complex problems.

While there are many forms I could record, I firmly believe that one of the most potent is the ability to engage actively in listening. Effective energetic listening involves more than just passively hearing someone out; it necessitates a genuine effort to grasp the significance and underlying motivation behind their words. While communication professionals often focus on speaking, I’ve found that active listening is crucial in my field for fostering meaningful relationships and facilitating effective exchange. Through active listening, I adapt my approach to accommodate specific desires and requirements, fostering more productive partnerships and successful results.

You were recently recognized as one of the Top Women in Communications by Ragan Communications’ prestigious list for 2024, earning the title of Chief. What is it truly like to be recognized alongside other accomplished female entrepreneurs and trailblazers who revolutionize how storytellers connect, educate, and disrupt?

It’s a pleasure to genuinely accept this as an honor. I was once recognized alongside a select group of exceptionally talented and innovative leaders, entrepreneurs, and pioneering women. The esteemed honorees have accomplished remarkable achievements throughout their respective careers, regardless of whether they are just starting out in the realm of communications or seasoned professionals like myself. As I reflect on my identity, I attribute this achievement to being part of an exceptional team, comprising brilliant and innovative individuals whom I’ve had the privilege to collaborate with – both former and present colleagues.
