Carbon Autonomous Robotic Methods Inc. At this point, the company has successfully secured $70 million in its fourth funding sequence (Sequence D). The latest funding round has brought the total investment in the developer of the LaserWeeder system, a cutting-edge solution for synthetic intelligence-powered agriculture, to a staggering $157 million since its inception in 2018.

“This significant investment marks a crucial turning point, benefiting not just our company but also the global agricultural community and consumers,” said Paul Mikesell, founder and CEO of Carbon Robotics. “We’re leading a transformative shift, as this funding enables us to accelerate the development of pioneering AI and robotics solutions that could revolutionize farming practices for future generations.”

Carbon Robotics aims to leverage its latest funding injection by scaling up its LaserWeeder business, introducing innovative software and hardware solutions, and expanding manufacturing capacities in eastern Washington. The expansion can also support the company’s progress in new markets, driving its geographic growth into Japan, Southern Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.

LaserWeeder eliminates 10B weeds

Carbon Robotics asserts that farmers across North America, Europe, and Australia have successfully eliminated weeds from over 100 crop types without relying on chemical herbicides, manual labour, or soil disturbance. The company claims that its technology can significantly boost predictability for a diverse spectrum of crops, including leafy greens such as lettuce, as well as more substantial vegetables like onions, carrots, and cruciferous greens like broccoli, in addition to various herbs.

By July, the corporation announced that its LaserWeeder fleet had eliminated more than 10 billion weeds globally since 2022. The system seamlessly integrates laptop vision, deep-learning technology, robotics, and lasers to accurately identify and remove targets with precision down to the millimeter.

Carbon Robotics notes that LaserWeeder can slash weed-control costs by a significant 80%, simultaneously boosting crop yields and quality.

The corporation provides equipment alongside a platform for AI-powered operations in conjunction with the LaserWeeder. The Middle provides growers with actionable, visually enabled insights to monitor and refine their practices.

With the companion app, Carbon Robotics enables farm managers and operators to gain real-time, remote visibility into their LaserWeeder’s status, location, and productivity.

Carbon Robotics secured $15 million in funding across two rounds within the past year.

Carbon Robotics has secured its second funding round for the year. In May, Might’s venture-capital arm acquired a spherical majority stake in ?, but the firm declined to provide financial details about the transaction.

A new investor-led Series D funding round has propelled Carbon Robotics to the next level. The newly formed entity also secured investment commitments from existing backers NVentures, Anthos Capital, Fuse Enterprise Capital, Ignition Partners, Revolution, Sozo Ventures, and Voyager Capital.
