The new Pixel 9 Professional Fold cannot be charged wirelessly using the official Pixel Stand.

Google unveiled four new Pixel 6 smartphones approximately two weeks ago: the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, and Pixel 7. The non-folding Pixels will be wirelessly charged using Google’s Pixel Stand 1 and Pixel Stand 2, whereas the Pixel 9 Professional Fold will require a different charging method.

According to Google, the wireless charging issue on Pixel 9 Pro Fold stems from the “non-central placement of the charging coil compared to previous Pixel phones,” which may hinder effortless wireless charging.

Although Google highlighted the Pixel 9 Professional Fold’s versatility, stating that it “supports many different Wi-Fi chargers” and requires adjustment when using another charger, with the recommendation to check the phone’s charging indicator for proper alignment.

Bummer: Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold cannot be charged wirelessly with the Pixel Stand

The new Pixel 9 series comes with a cutting-edge Pixel Stand that enables wireless charging up to 10W for the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Professional, and Pixel 9 Pro. Notwithstanding the Pixel Stand 2, the standard Pixel 6 can charge at up to 15W wirelessly, whereas the Professional and Professional XL models support charging at up to 21W and 23W, respectively?

Without assistance from Pixel Stand 1 and Stand 2, the Google Pixel 9 Professional Fold can only charge up to 7.5W using other wireless chargers. It’s disappointing that the Pixel Stand lacks support for the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, as it’s the priciest option in the series.
