I have a strange concern about my MacBook.
- Macbook Professional (13″ late 2011)
- Reminiscence 4GB
- Processor Intel 2.4GHZ
- Graphics Intel HD
- Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6
- Two unique Energy Adapters 60W
For several weeks, my MacBook’s battery life had been consistently failing, resulting in sluggish performance regardless of usage scenarios. This text requires further clarification to make its intended meaning clear. Can you provide more context? After replacing the battery, the situation underwent significant improvements. I decided to perform a clean reinstall of Sierra, a process that concluded without any issues after a few years of dormancy. The drawback remains unchanged regardless of whether you reinstall Sierra prior to that point in time or afterwards.
Here’s what occurs:
- When charged at 100%, using the facility adapter, the Mac becomes extremely slow. The exercise monitor displays an unexpectedly high kernel CPU utilisation of up to 500 per cent, while the overall system load remains moderate at around 93 per cent, with user activity being steady at approximately 8 per cent. The exercise monitor will no longer display processes consuming abnormally high power levels. Reminiscence consumption is regular too. The MacBook performs smoothly as long as its battery is fully charged.
- As soon as I unplug the facility adapter, my MacBook seamlessly transitions to running solely on battery power without any issues; the kernel recovers promptly, and all system metrics, including CPU usage, remain well below 10%, returning to normal functioning. As soon as the battery level drops to around 5%, things are back to normal following the successful reconnection of the power adapter.
- The problem persists every time the battery becomes fully charged.
- No distinction exists among energy adapters altogether.
- The charging process seems to follow a consistent schedule.
- The simplicity of technology is its greatest strength, as users seamlessly interact with devices without requiring a deep understanding of the underlying components.
- A software management controller (SMC) and parameter RAM (PRAM) reset do not distinguish between different types of data or configurations, simply erasing all contents.
- Virus and malware test detrimental.
- The Mac’s Hard Disk Drive (HDD) has been thoroughly checked and found to be functioning flawlessly, with no detected problems or need for restoration.
- When operating in Protected mode, the Mac functions seamlessly under any power supply or budget scenario.
- Temperatures for batteries, CPUs, and GPUs remain consistently low across all scenarios, including those where the problem arises.
- As I depart at night, I will put my MacBook to sleep. Occasionally, the Mac shuts down unexpectedly and then reboots automatically, accompanied by an error message upon startup that the external drive was not properly ejected in the morning.
I suspect an internal power supply issue, but I’m unsure how to move forward from here? Any assistance is vastly appreciated. Thanks everybody prematurely.
