AUAR, a pioneer in automated structure, announced yesterday that it will transport two of its innovative Micro-Factories, equipped with cutting-edge ABB robotic arms, to the United States. The UK-based development knowledge startup has announced its inaugural expansion into North America.

The U.S. Facing a critical shortage of housing in the near future, the country is projected to be approximately 4-7 million homes short, according to estimates. Labour shortages and fragmented supply chains significantly amplify the problem.

Rival Holdings, a leading property improvement and development company, is poised to revolutionize housing construction in the Midwest by leveraging AUAR’s innovative Micro-Factories technology to build thousands of homes. AUA Rare Diseases and Rival Holdings have announced their plans to develop a new medical facility.

AI-assisted building design

In 2022, Claypool collaborated on an automated structure project with Gilles Retsin, Chief Knowledge Officer and Chief Architect. After nearly a decade of collaborative research into the intersection of robotics, generative design, and AI, they had converged on a vision to revolutionize housing.

Aur stated that its technology effectively collaborates with homebuilders, builders, and producers, granting them access to its comprehensive library of robotic and AI-driven, design-to-production software tools. Claiming their Micro-Factories can boost efficiencies, predictability, and oversight in the construction of timber homes, while simultaneously reducing financial risks and environmental costs.

Rival Holdings and AUAR jointly announced that two micro-factories have been successfully shipped to the United States. Can this production line manufacture approximately 180 dwellings within a 12-month period? Unlike traditional approaches, their innovative method doesn’t necessitate large-scale manufacturing facilities to be set up, allowing for a swift turnaround of just 12 weeks from order placement to delivery, according to the collaborators.

Micro-factories are transported in standard containers, containing all necessary components precisely assembled to enable rapid on-site implementation by Rival’s experts.

AUAR partners with ABB to drive efficiency and consistency.

Applied sciences form the core of Micro-Factories, responsible for tasks such as modular assembly, according to AUAR. The companies formalized their partnership in March.

Prior to collaborating with AUAR, ABB reported that its robots had been deployed globally for modular meeting and 3D printing construction projects. ABB robots have also been incorporated into tutorial exercises investigating ways to integrate robotic automation into.

“ABB’s cutting-edge robotics technology seamlessly integrated into AUAR’s Micro-Factories enables us to tackle pressing global issues such as labour and skills shortages,” said Craig McDonnell, managing director of business-line industries at ABB.

“Our collective commitment to sustainable development plays a crucial role in mitigating the environmental impact of our operations, which currently account for approximately 11 percent of global emissions.” We’re thrilled to extend a warm welcome to our fellow travelers across the United States. As European companies expand their impact beyond the continent for the first time, laying the groundwork for a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future in development.

ABB equipped its robots with advanced vision and artificial intelligence capabilities to boost speed, flexibility, and consistency. The policy enables the accompaniment of AUAR’s companions, thereby enhancing efficiency, predictability, and oversight while concurrently reducing financial risks and minimising the overall environmental impact of timber dwelling construction initiatives. The ABB group is actively collaborating across its UK, US, and global operations to facilitate effective teamwork.

AUAR offers a flexible “hardware-as-a-service” solution, enabling partners to quickly set up and operate their micro-factories without significant upfront capital expenditures.

“After months of development, we’re thrilled to announce that our Micro-Manufacturing facility is now fully scalable and accessible for homebuilders,” said AUAR’s Chief Technology Officer, Retsin. “We achieve this by maintaining upfront costs at a low level and enabling swift setup and deployment.”

The operator of the Micro-Manufacturing facility requires little to no extensive training or knowledge of robotics to operate it effectively. “Our software program seamlessly integrates with our skilled workforce to handle every aspect of production, from initial design phases through to final manufacturing.”

Micro-manufacturing facilities produce modular timber-frame panels for partitioning, flooring, and roofing, which can be quickly assembled on-site to generate a diverse range of dwelling designs. To rapidly integrate Rival Holdings’ personnel with AUAR’s teams, the collaboration will commence by building a low-energy accent dwelling unit (ADU).

Businesses intend to leverage Micro-Factories to manufacture homes across the Midwest region.
