Apple Podcasts spotlights narrative collection
Now, a game-changing episode drops exclusively on Apple Podcasts: a fresh chart, class, and party honoring pivotal collections in real-time.
Currently, Apple Podcasts is emphasizing the curation of engaging narratives, featuring episodic content designed for immersive listening experiences that captivate audiences across various genres. Apple Podcasts introduces a groundbreaking High Collection chart, dynamically updated in real-time, featuring the top 100 podcast collections, solidifying its position as the premier chart for collection shows. Moreover, a brand-new Collection class will enable listeners to discover and explore revealing content tailored to their tastes. Finally, Apple Podcasts editors will introduce “Collection Essentials,” highlighting a notable collection each month that embodies the category’s spirit, kicking off with “Pineapple Avenue: A True Crime Story” – a critically acclaimed limited series from Wondery and Audacy’s Pineapple Avenue Studios.
Serialized podcasts represent some of the most significant innovations in the world of podcasting, characterized by captivating audio storytelling, exceptional voice acting, and top-notch writing and production quality. “They’re the stories that linger in our minds and spark conversations years after the fact,” said Ben Cave, Apple’s global head of Podcasts. We’re excited to introduce an unforgettable podcast experience featuring a debut High Collection chart, Collection class, and Collection Essentials on Apple Podcasts, empowering listeners to discover their next go-to show.
I’m fascinated by stories in all forms – from written word to visual narratives: books, TV shows, documentaries, movies, and even graphic novels; I devour any tale that captivates me. Rachel Maddow, host of MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show, noted: “I’m not uniquely attuned to storytelling; my ears perk up just as keenly for engaging podcast series.” There is only one way for a series to succeed: through the power of a unified, singular storyline – one voice that weaves together episode after episode, ultimately culminating in a satisfying conclusion. We’re instinctively wired to learn through emotional connection, not just intellectual instruction. Within my vast collection of historical and political narratives, numerous individuals have shared with me the profound impact of these stories, revealing how they transcended mere relatability to evoke deep emotional resonance. It’s likely that many of the most exceptional stories unfold over several sittings, and today, the greatest narratives are being crafted within serialized podcast episodes.
With humility, Jad Abumrad acknowledged the immense effort required to compile a comprehensive collection, expressing admiration for the tireless work of audio producers. I’m thrilled to hear that Apple Podcasts is backing these impactful stories and the creators behind them. I’m eager to uncover new possibilities and find my creative spark.
Apple Podcasts introduces a new High Collection chart, effectively becoming the flagship metric for serialized content within the industry. This new chart offers listeners a dedicated hub to discover their next favorite show, while honoring the creators behind some of the most popular and trending programs on Apple Podcasts. Collections account for a significant majority of the year’s most popular and highest-grossing reveals. As with many charts on Apple Podcasts, High Collection may be updated regularly.
The premier collection of podcasting excellence, Collection Necessities shines a spotlight on the industry’s finest storytellers, honoring outstanding achievements in the dynamic world of audio content. Each month, Apple Podcasts’ editorial team will honor a podcast that consistently captures the imaginations of its listeners by showcasing exceptional storytelling, innovative production, a distinct creative vision, and impressive craftsmanship. Each Featured Collection of the month will be available entirely ad-free on Apple Podcasts.
The documentary series, hosted by renowned journalist Tristan Redman, was selected as the flagship choice for its captivating and enduring narrative, which masterfully weaves together Redman’s personal family history and his own quest for truth. The present defies categorization, seamlessly blending elements from true crime, personal narrative, and historical storytelling to captivate a diverse range of viewers.
“Wondery’s Restricted Collection affords us the privilege of collaborating with an impressive array of top-tier journalists and storytellers, uncovering fresh perspectives and compelling narratives that propel our medium forward.” “Apple Podcasts’ innovative ‘Collection Necessities’ shines a spotlight on captivating stories, amplifying discoverability and attracting fresh listeners with its engaging narrative approach.”
“We’re thrilled that Apple Podcasts has selected our content as its primary collection,” said Redman. To be considered for this collection after just one year is truly remarkable. What stories captivate our imagination? Lengthy form collections of podcasts are deserving of celebration.
This captivating narrative commences with a childhood bedroom haunting, unfolds as an inquiry into a 1930s murder, and culminates in a contemplation on the perils and benefits of excavating one’s family heritage? The narrative unfolds as a unique fusion of crime solvers, paranormal investigators, and spiritual intuitives, joined by those most intimately connected to the case – the Dancy household members, including Tristan’s brother-in-law, acclaimed actor Hugh Dancy – sharing their thoughts for the first time on the gruesome murders.
