Next week, Apple will unveil its latest iPhone series at an event titled “It’s Your Brightest Moment”. Here’s what is widely understood about the latest fashion trends – our focus will now shift to the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, with the two Pro models to be covered separately in a forthcoming article.
The launch
Apple has officially announced that the iPhone 16 series will debut on Monday. The event commences at 17:00 UTC.
When can we expect the new iPhones to arrive? According to Mark Gurman, all four iPhone 16 models are poised for a rapid pre-order (immediately following the event) and a subsequent launch.
Apple’s Intelligence feature has been delayed and won’t be available on launch day. The new shipment should arrive as a replacement in October. Notwithstanding, the delay will postpone the iPhone 16 launch.
The design
The vanilla iPhone design has seen limited innovation since the iPhone 11, with the exception being the groundbreaking introduction of the Dynamic Island. While the overall design of the 16-series remains unchanged, recent spy shots do show some subtle updates being tested on development models.
Will the rectangular camera island be flattened to accommodate the two cameras standing side by side? This effectively silences the LED flash, removing its distracting presence from the landscape and shifting the focus back to the main event.
The packaging also discloses all launch colors. These colours must be exceptionally saturated, far exceeding those typically seen in professional attire that historically favour very pale shades.
Motion and Seize buttons
Aspect views of these dummies present the tentatively named buttons, which can trigger customized actions and function as a digital camera’s shutter release button, respectively. Although this statement implies that the Alert Slider should be removed,
The Seize button will serve as an advanced capacitive trackpad, enabling intuitive swiping gestures, such as adjusting zoom levels.
Identical(-ish) shows
The iPhone 16 may feature a 6.1-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Plus is expected to boast a larger 6.7-inch screen. Despite their diminutive sizes, each of these miniaturized versions will still be smaller than their professional counterparts, which boast diagonal measurements of 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches respectively. The key difference lies in the slightly reduced dimensions on vanilla and Plus models, with the Professionals featuring marginally larger measurements.
The four fashion variants are set to fully utilize the Dynamic Island’s extensive notch, with no expected changes in the next year for vanilla flavors; professionals may, however, start migrating hardware underneath the display.
There will be no ProMotion on the new iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models, which means they won’t have the same high-refresh-rate display capabilities as previous years’ devices, leaving them stuck in a static state much like the darkness of night. Now that’s one aspect that might undergo a transformation in the 2025 Vanilla pairing, provided individuals can sustain such an extended period.
Apple’s latest A18 chipsets, powered by artificial intelligence (AI), revolutionize mobile computing.
The Apple Intelligence feature will face a delay, but its eventual arrival will be on the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models. The 15 and 15 Plus models fall short in terms of performance due to their outdated A16 chipsets and limited 6GB RAM capabilities.
That won’t be the case for the 16-series, however. As technology companies continue to evolve, Apple recognizes Artificial Intelligence (AI) as the next significant innovation. As a result, newly released smartphones are equipped with an NPU that enables rapid on-device processing and ample RAM to support the larger AI models required for seamless performance.
That’s not to suggest that Apple will abandon all caution and go wildly overboard with RAM capacities. This year, both Vanilla and Plus models are expected to receive upgrades, with next year’s iterations potentially featuring up to 12GB of RAM. Google enhanced the Pixel 9 series’ RAM capabilities by allocating a portion for its AI model’s constant loading in memory, ensuring swift responsiveness and ready-to-fire answers at a moment’s notice. Whether Apple will duplicate this remains to be seen.
While non-professional phones may potentially feature fewer GPU cores, this wouldn’t necessarily impact AI performance. Since most users’ screens operate at a standard 60Hz refresh rate, any excess GPU power is simply wasted.
Identical(-ish) cameras
As expected, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are likely to feature dual cameras, a familiar yet reliable trend in Apple’s flagship device lineup. Rumors suggest that the two new phones will emulate their predecessors’ features, adopting a familiar design on their 15-series models. While the jump from 12MP on 14-series and earlier flagships was substantial, it’s unrealistic to expect a similar annual improvement.
The advanced digital camera is expected to remain largely unchanged apart from a refined lens, which will boast a broader f/2.2 aperture compared to the existing f/2.4, thereby enhancing its capacity to capture high-quality images in low-light conditions with greater ease. Equipped with advanced autofocus capabilities, this camera would effortlessly shift its focus to deliver high-quality macro images, opening up new possibilities for photographers to explore the intricate details of their subjects.
Rumors have circulated about various modifications, for instance Save as JPEG We’ve already applied a finish to the seize button above.
What comes subsequent
By 2025, experts foresee several significant shifts impacting various industries and sectors. Is this the pinnacle for the massive Plus series, supposedly providing a method to the . According to analyst Jeff Pu’s estimates, the upcoming device is expected to feature a slightly smaller 6.6-inch display, differentiating it from the Pro Max model with its 6.9-inch screen.
The iPhone 17 and 17 Pro will retain the Dynamic Island, but feature an Professionals should have their own separate island, thereby creating a clear demarcation between vanilla and Professional editions. The vanilla pair should finally receive an adequate refresh rate on their displays.
While rumors about the iPhone 17’s technology are widespread, their credibility remains questionable. It’s been rumored that the upcoming iPhone 17 Slim will feature significant upgrades, including a potentially new design and enhanced camera capabilities. While Apple has yet to officially confirm these changes, speculation surrounding the device is growing. One or each of those statements may not be entirely accurate. Notwithstanding our initial reservations, we felt compelled to provide this background information to adequately frame the significance of the iPhone 16’s forthcoming enhancements.
There may also be the iPhone SE (4) to consider, which could fully satisfy Apple’s. The highly anticipated all-new SE is expected to hit the market in the first quarter of 2025.
