The PUDU D9 humanoid robot leverages the most recent advancements in robotics and AI to create a cutting-edge solution for various industries.

Developed by the Pudu X-Lab, the PUDU D9 marks the third product release in a series that began with the innovative semi-robotic arm and was followed by the dexterous hand, both of which showcased the team’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of robotics innovation.

At a height of 170 centimeters (approximately 5 feet 7 inches) and weighing 65 kilograms (143 pounds), the PUDU D9 boasts 42 levels of articulation, enabled by an impressive range of motion across its joints, with a maximum joint torque of 352 Newton-meters. Equipped with the pioneering PUDU DH11 technology, this innovative system boasts lifelike bipedal walking and versatile dual-handed control capabilities.

In a recently released demonstration video, PUDU D9 successfully demonstrated its impressive mobility capabilities, including upright walking, obstacle navigation, and slope climbing, while also effortlessly performing floor-cleaning tasks with the assistance of the PUDU SH1 device?

Firm touts philosophy, capabilities

Pudu Robotics notes that its innovative PUDU D9 model was conceived with a human-centric approach, underpinned by the guiding principle that it is “Born to Serve”. The anthropomorphic robot is engineered to meticulously replicate human abilities while aiming to provide practical assistance across a diverse range of tasks.

The company cites the following capabilities:

  • Dynamic mobility: The PUDU D9’s unique bipedal design enables it to walk at a pace comparable to that of adults, attaining velocities up to 4.4 miles per hour on level terrain. According to Pudu Robotics, this autonomous device may traverse a range of challenging urban landscapes, including staircases, inclines, and other demanding city environments. The corporation claimed that its advanced robotic technology enables a “lightweight” walking pattern, significantly reducing noise levels during use in human settings. The D9’s advanced sensory suite enables precise, real-time 3D mapping, granting it a comprehensive comprehension of its surroundings. This feature enables precise self-alignment and autonomous route navigation, as highlighted by Pudu.
  • Precision manipulation: Equipped with dual robotic arms boasting seven degrees of freedom each, the PUDU D9 is capable of handling payloads in excess of 20 kilograms (44 pounds). When coupled with the PUDU DH11 dexterous hand, this system is capable of executing delicate tasks across a range of functions, as described by Pudu. Because of years of R&D and proprietary reinforcement-learning algorithms, the PUDU D9 can quickly be taught from intensive datasets, “executing end-to-end process planning to satisfy varied operational calls for,” mentioned the corporate.
  • Pure interplay: The PUDU D9 features a diverse range of high-precision sensors, including visible, tactile, pressure, and auditory modes, enabling it to collect comprehensive multimodal data from its surroundings. Pudu revealed that its D9 framework seamlessly integrates advanced technologies, enabling the development of human-like multimodal interfaces that significantly elevate the quality and responsiveness of services provided.

Pudu Robotics has expanded its product portfolio to include a comprehensive range of robots, encompassing specialized, semi-humanoid, and humanoid models, as the PUDU D9 seamlessly integrates into this diverse lineup. In October, the corporation unveiled an upgraded version of its FlashBot indoor supply robotic technology. Last month, Pudu showcased its AI-powered robotic cleaning technology at the ISSA Show North America.

The Pudu D9 robotic joins a growing list of humanoids, including but not limited to the NEO, Digit, Apollo, Atlas, RoboTherapy’s Determined 02, GORBOT’s GR-2, Optimus, and Boston Dynamics’ Atlas.

Pudu Robotics' latest innovation, the D9 humanoid robot, seamlessly integrates into a comprehensive lineup of service robots designed to revolutionize customer interactions and enhance operational efficiency in various settings.
