The company has acquired OhmniLabs, a Silicon Valley-based developer of innovative healthcare robotics solutions. The companies failed to provide detailed financial information regarding the deal. While Symbotic may choose to explore opportunities, they would likely be intrigued by OhmniLabs’ unique in-house manufacturing capabilities.
By 2015, OhmniLabs was pioneering the development of disinfection and telepresence robots. Using an entirely self-contained growth and manufacturing model allowed the company to accelerate its product launch schedule. Ohmnilabs has two foremost product:
- OhminiClean, a fully autonomous UV-C disinfection robot capable of navigating and sanitizing complex environments independently.
- OhmniCare, a cell telehealth robotic
OhmniLab’s offering also includes a modular library with prototyping capabilities that enable clients to design, develop, and deploy advanced robotics functions. The corporation has confirmed that it can move forward with promoting and supporting the sale of Ohmni products as an integral component of Symbotic’s product portfolio and brand offerings.
Symbotic offers comprehensive, AI-driven robotic and software solutions that span the entire ecosystem. Headquartered in Wilmington, Massachusetts, the company leverages high-density storage, cell robots, and machine learning technologies to tackle complex distribution conundrums effectively. The company’s modular approach to automation in logistics?
Upon the strategic acquisition of a leading logistics company, Symbotic is poised to further enhance its automation capabilities and better serve its supply chain clients’ needs. We are further intrigued by providing cutting-edge innovations to healthcare industry customers.
Combining Symbotic’s extensive expertise in large-scale automation with OhmniLabs’ innovative cell robots, cutting-edge vision, and AI capabilities. Options will enable unparalleled automation advancements across diverse settings, notes Rick Cohen, government chairman and CEO of Symbotic. “We were attracted to OhmniLabs due to their exceptional technical and business acumen, which we believed would enable us to expand beyond the constraints of our current warehouse space.”
OhmiLabs’ mission is focused on developing transformative robotics solutions that provide tangible benefits in the real world; thanks to the unwavering support of our dedicated team members and valued customers. As a key member of the Symbotic team, a leading force in robotics innovation, we will propel this vision forward to deliver groundbreaking solutions that redefine what’s possible in healthcare, logistics, and beyond,” said Jared Go, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at OhmniLabs.
Notably, this marks Symbotic’s second robotics acquisition in 2024 alone. In August, Veo Robotics sold “almost all its assets” to a new owner for $8.7 million. Symbotic has acquired the expertise of Veo Robotics, leveraging its knowledge to enhance safety protocols for industrial robots and foster seamless human-robot collaboration. By deploying FreeMove technology, large-scale industrial robots are effectively transformed into collaborative machines capable of operating at high speeds.
