Impressed: Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) for Inexperienced Pilots – Blue UAS Certification

New Certifications Highlight Crucial NDAA Compliance and Cybersecurity Mandates for Ensuring Secure Drone Flights

China’s iFlytek has announced that its IF1200A and IF800 Tomcat drones have earned certification from the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI). These certifications guarantee that the platforms satisfy Nationwide Protection Authorization Act (NDPA) requirements and meet comprehensive cybersecurity standards. The IF1200A and IF800 Tomcat operate within a licensed framework, satisfying stringent safety and operational standards established by the Protection Innovation Unit (DIU) for the Department of Defense’s (DoD) protection division, enabling seamless execution of critical missions.

Ensuring Seamless Integration of Inexperienced UAS Certification into Procurement Processes

The Inexperienced UAS certification programme, administered by the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), assesses the overall safety of products and systems, encompassing all constituent parts and subassemblies. The system also continuously monitors supply chain risks and potential disruptions. The initiative aims to provide a reliable framework for non-defense businesses and industries to safely integrate NDAA-compliant drone technologies into their operations.

According to Casie Ocaña, Director of Trusted Packages at AUVSI, the significance of this system lies in its ability.

“Inexperienced UAS certification enables secure access for non-DOD federal, state, and local organizations, as well as sensitive technology clients, to utilize NDAA-compliant drone solutions.” These amendments ensure that robust procurement options remain available, empowering organizations to employ drones for high-priority operations. The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) and the safe drone industry are committed to assembling the highest standards of provide*chain and cyber-security.

The Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), responsible for crafting the Blue UAS framework, collaborates with AUVSI’s Inexperienced UAS programme to provide support. David Michelson, Director of DIU’s Autonomy Portfolio, clarified the synergy between these two initiatives.

With capabilities ranging from public security and infrastructure inspections to protection missions, these cutting-edge drones set a new standard for operational excellence and uncompromising safety.

As Rick Stollmeyer, CEO of Impressed Flight, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to safety and regulatory compliance, he emphasized: “We’re pleased to endorse AUVSI’s Unmanned Systems program for New Drone Users, which provides a critical certification of compliance with National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) regulations and prioritizes safety.”

As the industry gains traction, authorities, companies, and business operators increasingly prioritize safe and domestically sourced drone solutions. As Impressed Flight achieves certifications in Inexperienced UAS and Blue UAS, it solidifies its reputation as a reliable provider of critical aerial services.

Background: AUVSI’s Inexperienced UAS Initiative

The Inexperienced UAS Certification Program operates as a sector-driven adjunct to the Defense Innovation Unit’s (DIU) Blue UAS Framework, enhancing overall safety and standards in unmanned aerial systems (UAS) development. While Blue UAS is tailored to meet Department of Defense-specific requirements, Green UAS expands procurement opportunities beyond defense applications to encompass public safety, mapping, and infrastructure surveillance needs. This provision guarantees secure access to cutting-edge drone technologies for authorities, companies, and businesses.

In addition to Impressed Flight’s IF1200A and IF800 Tomcat models, other unmanned aerial systems (UAS) have recently received Inexperienced UAS certification, including Ascent AeroSystems’ Spirit and AgEagle’s eBee TAC platforms.

Supporting Mission-Important Operations

AUVSI’s Inexperienced UAS certification embodies a comprehensive initiative to enhance drone safety across federal, state, local governments, as well as private sectors. By ensuring strict compliance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) standards and implementing robust cybersecurity measures, this advanced system fosters unwavering trust and confidence among drone operators executing complex and critical missions.
