HostPlus commits an additional AU$125m to the IP Group HostPlus Innovation Fund.

IP Group Australia, the main investor in university-originated deep technology, has welcomed a significant boost of A$125 million from Hostplus to its IP Group Hostplus Innovation Fund.

Hostplus has bolstered its existing A$310 million fund by an additional A$125 million, underscoring its commitment to supporting innovative companies such as green hydrogen trailblazer ?, chronic lung disease treatment biotech RAGE, and sustainable lithium miner Electralith.

IP Group’s ANZ CEO, Michael Molinari, cited the increased funding from Hostplus as a resounding endorsement of their financial model, underscoring universities’ ability to successfully commercialize cutting-edge technology.

“Hostplus acknowledges the substantial economic and societal benefits of supporting Australian deep-tech innovation,” Mr Molinari said.

“Our collaboration has played a pivotal role in establishing and expanding the ecosystem, with IP Group-Hostplus-backed companies securing nearly A$400 million in funding and generating a value of approximately A$1 billion.”

The fund has invested in pioneering companies affiliated with prestigious Australian institutions, including Monash University’s RAGE and Electralith, the University of Sydney’s AMSL Aero, and the Australian National University’s Forge Photonics.

According to Hostplus CEO David Elia, the fund’s robust observe report as one of Australia’s largest traders in business capital is attributed to the potential for significant returns from investment opportunities like these.
